Community Clean-Up lists appliances, stoves, water heaters and refrigerators on its metals pile, with a refrigerator set out only after the doors are secured or removed. California also bars landfills and scrap dealers from taking a discarded appliance without a Certificate of Recycling from a Certified Appliance Recycler, and the county's drop-off network takes small appliances only when they stay under 125 pounds and hold no refrigerant.
City cost & eligibility
No charge. Appliance collection is free to single-family houses that are City of Clovis refuse customers during the two Community Clean-Up cycles, inside the two-load limit. A unit that still holds refrigerant has to move through a Certified Appliance Recycler, and the receiving business sets any charge.
When & how
Appliances go out on the neighborhood's published Community Clean-Up day, at the curb by 6 a.m. A retailer or an appliance recycler that collects the unit sets its own service day.
Get it ready
Empty and defrost the unit, secure or remove the doors on a refrigerator, and confirm before loading that the receiving business can take a unit holding refrigerant. County staff can refuse an appliance that is not certified as recycled, so ask the question before the unit leaves the property.
Put clean-up debris out by 6 a.m. on your date and not before
Each neighborhood has its own pick-up day in the spring cycle and the fall cycle, and everything has to be at the curb by 6 a.m. on that day. Nothing may go out more than two weeks ahead of the date, and the City charges an extra collection charge when a pile is set out early, arrives late, is hauled in from another address or is not separated into the three piles.
Separate the pile into greenwaste, metal and other debris
The City recycles as much of the clean-up material as it can, so greenwaste, metal and other debris are kept in three separate piles in front of the property they came from. Different trucks collect each pile at different times of the day, some material may be collected earlier than the published date, and the trucks return on the scheduled day for the rest.
A clean-up pile sits at the curb directly in front of the property it came from, and there is no alley pick-up. The pile has to stay out of gutters, traffic lanes and bicycle lanes and at least 6 feet away from any parked vehicle, and vehicles have to be off the street on the collection day until the material is picked up.
Do not use the gray, blue or green carts for bulky material
Batteries, cell phones, computer monitors, laptops, televisions, tires, concrete, dirt, rocks, roofing material, treated and railroad lumber and construction debris may not go in any cart, and the carts may not be used to hold clean-up material either. Batteries go out in a sealed bag on top of the blue recycling cart or to a hazardous waste site, and up to 2.5 gallons of used motor oil per week goes beside the recycling cart in a labelled container with a secure lid.
The county landfill weighs every load, requires a high-visibility vest on site and charges an extra flat amount on an uncovered load. A demolition load is accepted only when it stays under 3 cubic yards or makes up less than 20 percent of a mixed load, and household hazardous waste, appliances that are not certified as recycled and tyre-bearing vehicles with other restrictions are routed elsewhere.
Use a permitted, accessible outdoor spot. Arrange the move out of your home, keep shared access clear and follow your confirmation’s readiness instructions. Check with your building about access or staging limits before booking.

No charge. Single-family residences that are City of Clovis refuse customers, one date per cycle in the spring and fall, up to two loads or about 6 cubic yards each cycle.
Arrange it
Look up the address on the City's interactive Community Clean-Up map, then put the separated piles at the curb in front of the property by 6 a.m. on the published date.
Furniture, mattresses, appliances, carpeting, bagged debris, palm fronds and open dry paint cans are taken in the other debris and metals piles. Televisions, construction debris of any kind, dirt, concrete, asphalt, roofing material, tires, batteries and railroad or treated lumber are refused and stay the household's responsibility, and no debris may be hauled in from another location.

Business waste runs separately through the county's small quantity generator program by appointment, and the county asks residents to call before a visit to confirm the material.
Thursday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., except holiday weekends. A reuse center for usable paint, chlorine, pesticides and herbicides runs the same hours and closes on July 4 and the two days after Thanksgiving.
No charge. Free to Fresno County residents inside the per-visit limit; a business pays disposal costs through the county program and needs an appointment.

General refuse and household waste, clean green material, hard-to-handle material, construction and demolition debris inside the county load conditions, metals, stoves, washers and dryers, water heaters and used tires.
Construction and demolition debris is accepted only when the load stays under 3 cubic yards or the demolition material is less than 20 percent of a mixed load, and county staff make the final call at the scale. A high-visibility safety vest is required on site, household hazardous waste is routed to the county hazardous waste facility, and an extra flat amount is charged on an uncovered load.
Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., closed Sunday plus Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Year's Day. Hard-to-handle material is accepted until 2 p.m.
From $9.45 per load of up to 640 pounds, the minimum charge in the Fresno County tipping fee schedule effective July 1, 2026, before general refuse moves to the per-ton rate. Any resident or hauler delivering to the county site, with the posted fee taken at the scale.

Small appliances may not contain refrigerant and have to stay under 125 pounds, charges apply to commercial mattress drop-offs after the tenth unit, and construction and demolition material still has to meet the county's load conditions.
Set by the operator; the county lists the site as a privately operated transfer station and the mattress program publishes it for resident drop-off, so confirm the current hours at (559) 233-1158 before loading.
