Treadmill, walking pad or commercial model?
Household treadmill includes folding home models with a tall console. Choose Walking pad for a compact under-desk model, or Commercial treadmill for a large gym machine. All equipment opens those choices.
An exercise bike, elliptical or rower
Spin, upright, recumbent and air bikes all use Exercise bike, including Peloton and other brands. One elliptical includes its connected base, handles and pedals. Rowing machines and Pilates reformers have their own choices.
Weights, racks and benches
Add together the pounds of loose dumbbells, kettlebells, plates and barbells. Free weights are priced in 10 lb units, rounding the combined weight up. For example, 25 lb uses three units. Add a stand, rack or bench separately if it is going too.

Exercise equipment is not named anywhere on the City's Community Clean-Up flier, so the free twice-yearly collection is not promised for a treadmill or an elliptical, even though the metals pile does take swing sets and metal lawn furniture. A household can take the machine to the county landfill as general refuse by weight, or strip the console and take the steel frame to a metal yard.
City cost & eligibility
The City publishes no bulky item rate for exercise equipment and does not list the item in its clean-up rules, so ask the Solid Waste Division before a machine goes to the curb. The county landfill charges general refuse by the ton with a minimum load charge, and a metal yard sets its own price.
When & how
The county landfill takes loads Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. A Community Clean-Up date follows the map for the neighborhood in each of the two cycles.
Get it ready
Take the console, the motor cover and any battery off the machine first, keep the electronics and the battery out of the pile, and confirm with the City or the receiving yard before a heavy frame is loaded. The flier makes a resident responsible for anything the crew refuses or leaves behind.
Separate the pile into greenwaste, metal and other debris
The City recycles as much of the clean-up material as it can, so greenwaste, metal and other debris are kept in three separate piles in front of the property they came from. Different trucks collect each pile at different times of the day, some material may be collected earlier than the published date, and the trucks return on the scheduled day for the rest.
The county landfill weighs every load, requires a high-visibility vest on site and charges an extra flat amount on an uncovered load. A demolition load is accepted only when it stays under 3 cubic yards or makes up less than 20 percent of a mixed load, and household hazardous waste, appliances that are not certified as recycled and tyre-bearing vehicles with other restrictions are routed elsewhere.

County regional landfill that takes household loads by weight and by item
American Avenue Disposal Site

General refuse and household waste, clean green material, hard-to-handle material, construction and demolition debris inside the county load conditions, metals, stoves, washers and dryers, water heaters and used tires.
Construction and demolition debris is accepted only when the load stays under 3 cubic yards or the demolition material is less than 20 percent of a mixed load, and county staff make the final call at the scale. A high-visibility safety vest is required on site, household hazardous waste is routed to the county hazardous waste facility, and an extra flat amount is charged on an uncovered load.
Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., closed Sunday plus Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Year's Day. Hard-to-handle material is accepted until 2 p.m.
From $9.45 per load of up to 640 pounds, the minimum charge in the Fresno County tipping fee schedule effective July 1, 2026, before general refuse moves to the per-ton rate. Any resident or hauler delivering to the county site, with the posted fee taken at the scale.

Which option covers a Peloton, spin bike or recumbent bike?+
Choose Exercise bike for one stationary bike, including spin, upright, recumbent and air bikes. Peloton and other brands use the same stationary-bike choice. A treadmill, walking pad and outdoor bicycle are different items, so select their matching options.
How do I book free weights, a weight rack or a bench?+
Enter the combined weight in pounds for your dumbbells, kettlebells, plates and barbells. Booking rounds that total up to the next 10 lb unit: 25 lb uses three units. Stands, racks and benches are separate items and do not include the loose weights. Add each one that is going.
Will the City take a treadmill at Community Clean-Up?+
It is not one of the items the City's debris flier lists, so confirm with the Solid Waste Division before a machine is set out.
