Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Televisions and electronics

Accepted with preparation

Televisions, monitors, computers and phones are kept out of the carts and out of the landfill, and CR&R collects them at the curb as a charged pickup.

City cost & eligibility
Electronic waste is not allowed in the carts and cannot go to the landfill. The hauler collects televisions, monitors, computers, phones and appliances holding Freon at the curb for a charge, and the City publishes no single electronic waste rate, so confirm the amount with CR&R at 909-370-3377 when the pickup is arranged. Electronic waste also goes out with the free county household hazardous waste route at no cost.
When & how
Call CR&R at 909-370-3377 to arrange the curbside pickup, or use the hauler's online scheduling service. Household batteries, paint, chemicals and other hazardous items go to a San Bernardino County household hazardous waste site instead of the curb, and electronic waste is also accepted at the quarterly community dump day.
Get it ready
Keep electronics out of all three carts and off a bulky pile, and wipe personal data from a computer, phone or drive before it leaves the property. Take batteries out of the device and route them to a hazardous waste site rather than the green or blue cart.

The handoff matters

Right item.
Right place.

A bulky pickup is an appointment, not an open curb pile

Call CR&R at 909-370-3377 to book the pickup on the regular collection day. The agreement gives the hauler seven days from the request to collect and requires the household to be told the specific day in advance, so nothing goes to the curb until that day is confirmed.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Colton's hauler runs the local route, so most material leaves the curb. Mattresses and box springs drop free and without a limit at the CR&R transfer station at 2059 E Steel Road through the Bye Bye Mattress program, and the first two rolls of carpet and padding are free there with proof of identification on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The quarterly community dump days take recyclables, green waste, electronic waste, universal waste and bulky items from residents who bring a utility bill and photo identification, along with up to four tires without rims and shredding of up to four banker boxes, but no construction material and no household hazardous waste. Hazardous items such as paint, solvents, batteries and fluorescent lights go to a San Bernardino County household hazardous waste site at no cost, and project debris moves through a clean-up bin, a concrete and asphalt box or a larger construction box arranged with the hauler. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

TV removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Colton.

How much does TV removal cost in Colton?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Can I get same-day TV pickup in Colton?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.

Can a television be picked up at the curb?

Yes, as a charged curbside collection. CR&R collects electronic waste such as a television, monitor, computer or phone from the residence, and the City keeps electronics out of the carts and out of the landfill because of the lead and chemicals they contain. Call 909-370-3377 to arrange it.Official guidance

Where do batteries, paint and chemicals go?

They are household hazardous waste and cannot go in any cart or in a bulky pile. Colton residents can take them at no cost to the San Bernardino County Fire household hazardous waste program at 2824 East W Street, Building 302, in San Bernardino, or to the Rialto maintenance yard at 246 S. Willow Avenue on the second and fourth Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon.Official guidance

Who collects trash in Colton?

CR&R is the City's exclusive hauler for trash, green waste and recycling. New residential service is set up through the City of Colton customer service department at 909-370-5555, commercial service is set up with CR&R at 909-370-3377, and a bulky pickup is booked with CR&R at the same number.Official guidance

Where can I take old tires?

Community dump days accept up to four noncommercial tires without rims per event, and the City lists tires as outside the bulky item pickup. A full set from a shop or any larger tire load needs a container or another arrangement rather than a curb pile.Official guidance

Where can I drop off used sharps?

Home generated sharps are accepted free at the Hutton Center, 660 Colton Avenue, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., and at the Luque Center, 292 East O Street, Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The container has to be one gallon or smaller and puncture proof.Official guidance

Do Colton businesses have to recycle?

Yes. California's AB 341 requires recycling for businesses and public entities that generate four cubic yards or more of waste a week and for multifamily complexes with five or more units, and AB 1826 adds organics separation requirements. The City's recycling coordinator takes questions at 909-264-2321.Official guidance
