Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Electronics and televisions

Accepted with preparation

Electronic waste, televisions, computers and electronic appliances are refused on the bulky route, and the county household hazardous and electronic waste site held on city property takes electronic waste, batteries and sharps on Saturdays. The refuse cart also refuses electronic waste, paint cans, medical supplies and batteries.

City cost & eligibility
The city page lists electronic waste among the materials the Saturday county site accepts but publishes no fee for the drop-off, and the county line is the contact for all information, so call 909-382-5401 to confirm the current terms before loading a vehicle.
When & how
Take the devices to the City of Redlands Corporate Yard at 1270 W. Park Ave., entered from Kansas Street north of Redlands Animal Control, on a Saturday between 7:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., which excludes holiday weekends and is closed when it rains.
Get it ready
Keep electronics and batteries out of the refuse, recycling and green carts, keep the load inside the 15 gallon or 125 pound visit limit with containers no larger than five gallons, and erase personal data before handover.

What the bulky truck will not take

The city's bulky item flyer refuses household hazardous waste, tires, liquids, paints, household chemicals, electronic waste, televisions, computers and electronic appliances. The refuse cart refuses the same problem material: electronic waste, paint cans, medical supplies and batteries all require special handling, and the county household hazardous waste site at the corporate yard takes them on Saturdays. A collection needed sooner than the scheduled service day is arranged as a special haul with its own fee.

The Saturday hazardous waste site has its own conditions

The county household hazardous and electronic waste site sits at the City of Redlands Corporate Yard, 1270 W. Park Ave., entered from Kansas Street north of Redlands Animal Control, and runs on Saturdays from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. It is closed on holiday weekends and when it rains, each visit is limited to 15 gallons or 125 pounds in containers no larger than five gallons, and a leaking container has to go inside a larger container or bag. Sharps go in an approved sharps container rather than a juice bottle or a coffee can.

Six holidays push the rest of the week back a day

Redlands does not collect on Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day or New Year's Day, and the rest of that week runs one day later. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents' Day, Cesar Chavez Day, Juneteenth, Columbus Day and Veterans Day do not change the collection schedule. A bulky pickup is booked onto the regular service day, so a holiday week moves it as well.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Self hauling in Redlands means the county landfill in San Timoteo Canyon. The San Timoteo Landfill at 31 Refuse Road opens Monday to Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and charges by weight at the gate: a flat rate for up to 300 pounds of ordinary residential waste, a per ton rate above that, a per tire rate for up to nine rollable tires off the rim, and separate per ton hard to handle and special handling rates with minimum load charges, with an uncovered or unsecured load charged double and cash rounded to the nearest dollar. Refrigerators are accepted only with no Freon left in, and paint, hazardous waste, liquids, sealed containers, hot ashes, medical waste, mercury and lead items, waste from outside the county and anything longer than ten feet are refused. Household chemicals and electronic waste do not go there; they go to the county household hazardous and electronic waste site at the City of Redlands Corporate Yard, 1270 W. Park Ave., on Saturdays from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., which is closed on holiday weekends and when it rains and limits each visit to 15 gallons or 125 pounds in containers no larger than five gallons. A construction project is different again: it files a Construction Waste Management Plan with the county before it starts, diverts at least 65 percent of its debris, and keeps the receipts, with help available at 909-386-8701. County published disposal site list giving each landfill name, address and hours, including San Timoteo Landfill in RedlandsCounty disposal cost and fee schedule with the by weight residential rate, the per ton rate, the per tire fee, the handling add ons and the uncovered load doublingCounty accepted waste page with the landfill yes and no table for refrigerators, tires, hazardous waste, treated wood, mercury and lead items and length limitsHousehold hazardous and electronic waste page with the corporate yard location and directions, the Saturday hours, the weather and holiday exclusions, the load limits and the accepted and refused listsCounty construction waste management page with the 65 percent CALGreen diversion requirement, the plan submission, the online permitting route and the end of project receiptsSolid waste customer service page with the phone number, counter address and the roll-off, self haul construction waste, hazardous waste and e-waste lines

Paint products, used motor oil and filters, chemical cleaners, brake and transmission fluid, pesticides, antifreeze, fertilizers, gasoline or diesel fuel, pool supplies, propane tanks, electronic waste, sharps containers, old or expired medications other than narcotics, and batteries.

Each visit is limited to 15 gallons or 125 pounds in containers no larger than five gallons, and the site is closed on holiday weekends and when it rains.

Saturdays from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The city's sharps page prints the same Redlands county site as 500 Kansas Street with a 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday window, so call 909-382-5401 to confirm before a trip.

The city publishes the accepted list, the hours and the load limit but no fee for this drop-off, and it directs all questions to San Bernardino County Fire at 909-382-5401, so confirm the current terms on that line.

How much does TV removal cost in Redlands?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.
