Choose the right items

One computer setup can be several items.

A separate monitor and tower count separately. Small devices and cables have their own box option. Choose what is actually leaving so your price matches the pickup.

Monitor, desktop or laptop.

Choose Computer monitor for each separate display. Desktop computer covers one tower or one all-in-one computer. A laptop is its own item. Add only the devices going.

Printer or office copier.

A printer with a built-in scanner belongs under Printer. A floor-standing copy machine belongs under Office copier. The shape matters more than the brand.

A box of smaller electronics.

Use Box of electronics for small devices, cables and chargers together in one box. For a large or heavy box, unusual contents or separate batteries, send a photo and confirm the fit before booking.

Televisions, computers and electronics

Accepted with preparation

Electronics are accepted at the transfer station, where the county defines them as anything with a cord, from televisions and computer monitors to stereos and alarm clocks. Cathode ray tube televisions and monitors are free, and residential devices without a screen are free as well.

City cost & eligibility
No charge. Electronic waste at the McFarland-Delano Transfer Station for residential loads, with cathode ray tube televisions and monitors and residential devices without a screen both listed at no charge, and residential batteries routed to a Kern County Special Waste Facility instead.
When & how
Drop the load during the site's open days, Sunday, Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Household batteries and other chemically hazardous items follow a different route altogether, through a Special Waste Facility or a one-day collection event, and the Delano event is listed at the same transfer station on September 25, 2026 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Get it ready
Wipe the drive or reset the device and keep the screen whole, because the county accepts televisions and monitors as cathode ray tube electronic waste. Never put electronics in a household trash cart when a free drop-off is available, and keep batteries and other hazardous items out of the electronic load.

Cover and secure every load before the gate

Kern County charges extra for an untarped or unsecured load, so tarp or tie down anything headed to the McFarland-Delano Transfer Station. At the site, stop at the gatehouse for the load check, take recyclables to the diversion area, take the rest to the transfer face, follow the speed limit signs and follow the directional arrows.

The Delano transfer station is closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays

The McFarland-Delano Transfer Station opens Sunday, Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., so nothing can be dropped on a Tuesday or Wednesday. Every county disposal site closes for New Year's Day, Easter Sunday, the 4th of July, Thanksgiving and Christmas Day.

Only Kern County waste is accepted, and some streams are refused

Waste generated outside Kern County is refused at every county disposal site, and the transfer station will not take firearms or explosives, hazardous waste, hot ashes, liquids of any kind or non-friable asbestos. Anything out of the ordinary should be cleared with Kern County Public Works before it is loaded into a vehicle.

Household chemicals travel with limits and stay in the vehicle

A resident may carry no more than 15 gallons or 125 pounds of hazardous material per vehicle per trip, no single container may hold more than five gallons, materials must not be mixed and containers must be closed, sturdy and not leaking with the original label or a clear description of the contents. At the facility an attendant hands you a short form for your name, address and signature and removes the material from your trunk or back seat while you fill it in, and business waste is not accepted at the events.

Kern County does not charge residents a disposal fee for ordinary household trash, and that free category covers appliances including refrigerators, stoves, washers and dryers, furniture including sofas and mattresses, green waste, used motor oil, paint and electronic waste, with cathode ray tube televisions and monitors listed at no charge. Charged material is separated out: source separated clean inerts such as asphalt, brick and concrete at one per-ton rate, mixed construction and demolition material including carpet, drywall, fencing, wood and pallets at a higher per-ton rate, tires at a price per tire by size, and an untarped or unsecured load at an extra charge or double the gate fee. Household chemicals that should not be buried go to a Kern County Special Waste Facility in Bakersfield, Mojave or Ridgecrest, or to a one-day collection event, with the Delano event held at the same transfer station each year, and residents may carry no more than 15 gallons or 125 pounds per vehicle per trip in containers no larger than five gallons. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

Electronics removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Delano.

How much does electronics pickup cost in Delano?

A computer monitor is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Choose the actual devices and quantities to see your combined price online. A separate desktop tower and monitor are separate items. Loading, transportation and disposal are included; review the total and any applicable tax before payment.

Can you pick up old electronics today in Delano?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates shown at checkout and have the prepared items outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done. The booking is for a day, not an exact arrival time.

Does computer removal include my monitor and printer?

Desktop computer covers one tower or one all-in-one computer. Add a separate monitor, printer or laptop as its own item if it is going too. For small devices, cables and chargers together, choose Box of electronics and check the description before booking.

Do you erase data from old computers?

Data erasure and certified data destruction are not included in Dropcurb removal. Back up the information you need, then follow the manufacturer’s sign-out and reset instructions before pickup. If a device cannot be erased or contains sensitive business information, arrange suitable data handling before giving it away. Completion photos confirm the pickup, not data destruction.Official guidance

Can I book one box of old cables and small electronics?

Yes. Box of electronics is an existing option for small devices, cables and chargers together in one box. A monitor, desktop computer and printer each have their own item option. Send a photo before booking for a large or heavy box, unusual contents or separate batteries so we can confirm the fit.

Where do Delano televisions and computers go?

To the McFarland-Delano Transfer Station on Stradley Avenue, where electronics are defined as anything with a cord and cathode ray tube televisions and monitors are accepted at no charge, as are residential devices without a screen.
