The last few things still deserve a pickup.
You have decided what is going. Now give those bags and boxes a pickup day, with a price you can see before anyone arrives.
The move is nearly done.
Book the unwanted bags and boxes left after packing. Choose an available pickup day before you hand back the keys, and arrange to have them outside.
The clear-out can be finished.
You do not need a whole house of junk. Select the bags, boxes and larger items you actually have. Your combined price is shown online.
You want to know it is handled.
When the next collection does not fit your plans, choose a Dropcurb pickup day. Updates keep you informed, and completion photos show when the booked items are gone.
A few simple choices turn a mixed pile into a clear booking. No need to estimate how much of a truck it might fill.
Filled bags and boxes
Count each trash bag or filled household box. Books and media go by the box. Clothes, bedding and shoes go by the filled bag. Toys packed together have a Box of toys choice. Ask us about unusually heavy or oversized bags and boxes first.
Empty cardboard and containers
Empty cardboard is a different choice: choose single empty boxes or tied bundles of 10 flattened boxes. Compacted bales have their own weight-based choices and require loading-dock access. A Storage bin choice covers the empty bin itself; ask us to confirm the contents if they are going too.
Furniture and other larger items
Add the actual larger item alongside your bags and boxes, such as a sofa, chair or mattress. It has its own price and preparation. Keep construction materials and items needing special handling out of ordinary household bags.

Furniture is free at the county transfer station that serves Delano. The site accepts sofas, chairs, tables, mattresses, dressers, desks and shelves, and the county's non-chargeable residential list names furniture directly.
City cost & eligibility
No charge. Non-chargeable residential waste at the McFarland-Delano Transfer Station for Kern County residents; the county does not charge a disposal fee for ordinary household trash or for the furniture that goes with it.
When & how
Take the load during the site's open days, Sunday, Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and remember it closes on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and the five listed holidays.
Get it ready
Cover and secure the load so nothing can blow out on the way, because the county charges extra for an untarped or unsecured load, and expect the gate attendant to ask what is in the load so it is classified correctly. Loads from outside Kern County are refused, so only material generated in the county should be in the vehicle.
Delano households clear bulky material two ways: the city's Refuse Department lists special pickups among its services, and the county transfer station on Stradley Avenue takes ordinary household trash, appliances, furniture, mattresses, green waste and electronic waste without a disposal charge for residents.
City cost & eligibility
No charge. Non-chargeable residential waste at the McFarland-Delano Transfer Station for Kern County residents, where the county states that residents are not charged a waste disposal fee for ordinary household trash; a city special pickup is quoted separately.
When & how
Haul the load to the transfer station on any open day, Sunday, Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., or call the city about a special pickup, which the Refuse Department lists among the services it provides for residents.
Get it ready
Cover and secure every load, stop at the gatehouse for the load check, take recyclables to the diversion area and the rest to the transfer face. Keep hazardous waste, liquids, hot ashes and any waste generated outside Kern County out of the vehicle, because the gate refuses all of them.
Kern County charges extra for an untarped or unsecured load, so tarp or tie down anything headed to the McFarland-Delano Transfer Station. At the site, stop at the gatehouse for the load check, take recyclables to the diversion area, take the rest to the transfer face, follow the speed limit signs and follow the directional arrows.
The Delano transfer station is closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays
The McFarland-Delano Transfer Station opens Sunday, Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., so nothing can be dropped on a Tuesday or Wednesday. Every county disposal site closes for New Year's Day, Easter Sunday, the 4th of July, Thanksgiving and Christmas Day.
Only Kern County waste is accepted, and some streams are refused
Waste generated outside Kern County is refused at every county disposal site, and the transfer station will not take firearms or explosives, hazardous waste, hot ashes, liquids of any kind or non-friable asbestos. Anything out of the ordinary should be cleared with Kern County Public Works before it is loaded into a vehicle.
Household chemicals travel with limits and stay in the vehicle
A resident may carry no more than 15 gallons or 125 pounds of hazardous material per vehicle per trip, no single container may hold more than five gallons, materials must not be mixed and containers must be closed, sturdy and not leaking with the original label or a clear description of the contents. At the facility an attendant hands you a short form for your name, address and signature and removes the material from your trunk or back seat while you fill it in, and business waste is not accepted at the events.
Use a permitted, accessible outdoor spot. Arrange the move out of your home, keep shared access clear and follow your confirmation’s readiness instructions. Check with your building about access or staging limits before booking.

Ask the city about a special pickup
A Delano household with a large item it would rather not haul, in a city whose Refuse Department lists special pickups among the services it provides.
Cost & conditions
The city publishes no special collection charge and no item list for one, so the Refuse Department at 661-721-3303 or the franchise hauler STRR at 661-725-0265 confirms whether the item is collected, when, and what it costs.
Arrange it
Call the city Refuse Department or STRR, describe the item and follow the collection arrangement you are given.
Special pickups are a listed city service rather than a published programme, so there is no printed item list, no published fee and no guaranteed collection day until the department confirms the arrangement.
