Match your item

Construction cleanup starts with the right items.

We currently accept the doors, toilets and bathroom vanities listed here, already detached and ready outside. Choose each item separately. Mixed drywall, tile, concrete, lumber and demolition rubble are not accepted, including in bags.

Doors

Count each detached door panel separately. Have it removed from its hinges before pickup. A whole installed doorway or garage door is not the same item.

Toilets

Choose Toilet for an ordinary household toilet that has already been disconnected, drained and moved outside. Text a photo before booking if yours is broken or has loose sharp pieces.

Bathroom vanities

Choose the small, standard or large bathroom vanity that matches your sink cabinet. A makeup table has a separate choice. Plumbing disconnection and removal from the wall happen before pickup.

Construction debris and renovation material

Special rules apply

Lumber can go out with the bulky pickup only within the city's size limits, no wider than four inches and no longer than five feet, with fencing disassembled, and dirt, rocks, bricks and tree stumps are refused outright. The drop-off center takes only small amounts of inert material such as concrete without rebar, rubble, brick, rock, soil, gravel and dirt, and refuses drywall, toilets, terracotta pots, porcelain and treated wood. Clean concrete in larger amounts has its own commercial receiver, and covered projects carry the CalGreen diversion requirement.

City cost & eligibility
The city publishes no residential construction debris price: a small amount can ride the free bulky pickup or the monthly drop-off allowance, and anything larger goes to a private container or the commercial concrete receiver, which set their own prices, so confirm the material, the receiving site and the charge before loading.
When & how
Book the bulky pickup with Republic Services at (916) 635-2500 for lumber within the size limits, or take a small inert load to the Special Waste Collection Center on Disposal Lane during its Saturday through Wednesday hours.
Get it ready
Separate inert material from household trash, disassemble fencing, keep treated wood, pallets, drywall, terracotta and porcelain out of the load, and keep the material in a private vehicle with no business markings because the drop-off refuses contractor vehicles.

The handoff matters

Right item.
Right place.

A bulky pile goes out on the appointment day, not before

The pile goes in front of the residence on the same side of the street, no more than 24 hours before the appointment, because the city warns that setting material out sooner can bring a citation for illegal dumping and that this includes material strangers add to the pile. The maximum is 7 by 6 by 4 feet, or five cubic yards, and a resident who expects more should say so when booking so the extra can be priced instead of left behind.

The drop-off center has its own terms

The Special Waste Collection Center is for Elk Grove residents only and is open Saturday through Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. A resident may bring one truck-size load a month of hard-to-recycle material at no additional charge, and the load has to arrive in a privately owned vehicle with no business markings, because business and contractor waste is refused. The recycling area and reuse room allow ten items a month for each household.

What the drop-off center refuses

The large recyclables drop-off refuses business and contractor waste, stumps wider than a foot, treated wood such as railroad ties, telephone poles, fence posts and decking, furniture of any kind, pallets, plastics, garden supplies and hoses, sod, ceramic tile, items with cloth or fabric, carpet, mattresses, expanded polystyrene and glass or mirrors. The door-to-door hazardous waste pickup refuses household garbage and recyclables, computers, televisions and other electronics, asbestos, ammunition and explosives, radioactive material, compressed gas cylinders and containers larger than five gallons.

Arrange it
Take the load to 8642 Elder Creek Rd in Sacramento during the station's hours of 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Elk Grove gives a household two ways to move material itself. The first is the free annual trip to the Elder Creek Transfer Station at 8642 Elder Creek Rd, where one load of up to five cubic yards is included in the residential service and the same acceptable and unacceptable list as a curbside bulky pile applies. The second is the Special Waste Collection Center at 9255 Disposal Lane, open Saturday through Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., which takes household hazardous waste free from residents and one truck-size load a month of hard-to-recycle material: scrap metal and predominantly metal items such as exercise equipment, appliances without Freon, e-waste, cardboard and small amounts of inert material and green waste. The center refuses furniture, mattresses, carpet, glass, treated wood, plastics and business waste, and a load has to arrive in a private vehicle with no business markings. Mattresses have no confirmed city route at all, which is why they are a call to Republic Services at (916) 635-2500 before anything is set out. A reuse room lets residents pick up usable products.

Elk Grove residents only, one truck-size load a month for the large recyclables drop-off, and material has to arrive in a privately owned vehicle with no business markings. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

Construction debris removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Elk Grove.

How much does construction debris removal cost in Elk Grove?

Pricing is per accepted item. A detached door is $99 as a single item, an ordinary toilet is $79, and a small bathroom vanity is $99. Larger vanities have their own choices. Select the listed items to see the exact combined price. These prices do not cover mixed rubble or loose building materials. Loading, transportation and disposal are included; applicable sales tax appears before payment.

Can I get same-day toilet or vanity pickup in Elk Grove?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup, where available. Checkout shows the dates you can choose. Arrange disconnection, removal and the move outside first, then have the fixture ready by the time in your confirmation. We text you before arrival and provide pickup photos when it is done.

Will you disconnect a sink or take a door off its hinges?

The fixture must already be detached, disconnected and accessible outside at ground level. Arrange plumbing, electrical work, removal from walls or hinges, and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb handles loading and haul-away from your outdoor pickup spot.

Can I add bags of drywall, tile or other demolition waste?

Mixed drywall, tile, concrete, lumber and demolition rubble are not accepted. This page offers pickup for the listed doors, toilets and bathroom vanities that are already removed. Do not book loose building materials as household trash bags or as an extra item. Arrange suitable disposal for those materials with your contractor or a debris specialist.

Can a door, toilet and vanity go in the same pickup?

Yes. Add each listed fixture separately and choose the correct vanity size. Each detached door panel counts as one item. The combined price appears before you book. Keep the fixtures together outside, separate from anything staying, and add a location photo on your order page.

Where does renovation debris go in Elk Grove?

Lumber within four inches wide and five feet long can go out with one of the free bulky pickups, with fencing disassembled. Small amounts of concrete without rebar, rubble, brick, rock, soil, gravel and dirt can go to the Special Waste Collection Center, which refuses drywall, toilets, porcelain and treated wood, and larger clean concrete loads go to the commercial receiver the city names. Covered projects also have to meet the CalGreen diversion requirement.Official guidance

Can a contractor use the Elk Grove drop-off?

No. The large recyclables drop-off is for Elk Grove residents only, business and contractor waste is refused, and material has to arrive in a privately owned vehicle with no business markings. A contractor working at an Elk Grove home has to arrange its own disposal, and the city's construction and demolition page sets out the CalGreen diversion requirement that applies to projects.Official guidance

When are holiday trees collected?

Holiday trees are collected from December 26 through the month of January on the organics collection day, and the pickup is included in the residential rate. The city's residential services page lists it with the rest of the curbside program, so a resident just sets the tree out with the green cart on the usual day.Official guidance
