The local disposal guide
Inglewood collects household clutter through its franchise hauler rather than a city counter. Consolidated Disposal Service, trading as Republic Services, holds the exclusive residential and commercial collection franchise, and residential accounts get a trash, a recycling and a yard waste cart, with no charge for extra yard waste or recycling containers. The bulky item part of the service is broad: both the city and the hauler publish unlimited bulky pickups a year at no additional charge for single and multi-family residential customers, covering furniture such as chairs, sofas, mattresses and rugs, appliances such as refrigerators, ranges, washers, dryers, water heaters and dishwashers, and electronic waste such as televisions, computers, printers and monitors. Nothing is collected unless it is booked, and the hauler asks for at least 24 hours notice on the phone line or through the city public works department. Two things sit outside the franchise. Household hazardous waste goes to Los Angeles County, whose free collection events and permanent centers take paint, solvents, chemicals, batteries, cell phones and fluorescent lights but refuse white goods by name, and mattresses have their own free county and state recycling program with drop-off sites and retail take-back.

Large appliances are bulky items in Inglewood. The hauler's Inglewood list names refrigerators, ranges, washers, dryers, water heaters, dishwashers and small household appliances, which matters because the county's household hazardous waste program refuses white goods outright.
Televisions, computers, printers and monitors can ride the bulky item program, and the city also schedules electronics removal through public works. Neither route puts a screen in a cart or in a roll-off container, which the hauler refuses to fill with televisions or monitors.
Construction debris does not ride a bulky pickup. The hauler takes it in a roll-off container instead, states that the service supports the state's construction diversion requirement, and refuses a defined set of materials in those containers.
Exercise equipment is named nowhere in the city page, the hauler's Inglewood list, the county household hazardous waste material or the county mattress program, so a treadmill or weight machine has to be confirmed before it is set out.
Inglewood handles large items through its franchise rather than a city counter. Both the city and the hauler publish unlimited bulky item pickups a year at no additional charge for single and multi-family residential customers, with the pickup arranged ahead of time.
The handoff matters
The franchise gives single and multi-family residential customers unlimited bulky item pickups a year at no additional charge, but nothing is collected unless it is arranged. Call Consolidated Disposal Service at (800) 299-4898 or the city Public Works Department at (310) 412-5333 at least 24 hours before the pickup, and remember that bulky scheduling pauses during Operation Clean Sweep and resumes the Monday after the last Saturday of the event.

A blocked container may not be serviced and a return trip can be charged. Two free extra pickups a year come with Operation Clean Sweep for material that will not fit in the black trash cart.
