You want to know it is handled.
When the next collection does not fit your plans, choose a Dropcurb pickup day. Updates keep you informed, and completion photos show when the booked items are gone.
A few simple choices turn a mixed pile into a clear booking. No need to estimate how much of a truck it might fill.
Filled bags and boxes
Count each trash bag or filled household box. Books and media go by the box. Clothes, bedding and shoes go by the filled bag. Toys packed together have a Box of toys choice. Ask us about unusually heavy or oversized bags and boxes first.
Empty cardboard and containers
Empty cardboard is a different choice: choose single empty boxes or tied bundles of 10 flattened boxes. Compacted bales have their own weight-based choices and require loading-dock access. A Storage bin choice covers the empty bin itself; ask us to confirm the contents if they are going too.
Furniture and other larger items
Add the actual larger item alongside your bags and boxes, such as a sofa, chair or mattress. It has its own price and preparation. Keep construction materials and items needing special handling out of ordinary household bags.

Lincoln has no bulky item list of its own because the regional facility takes mixed refuse by volume. A load of furniture, mattresses or general junk is charged by the cubic yard at the public scale houses, and a household with an active utility account can also apply for a temporary 3-yard bin from the city.
City cost & eligibility
From $25.25 per cubic yard of general refuse at the Materials Recovery Facility, with a minimum, and per ton pricing for larger loads, dumping trailers and dump trucks. Any customer bringing waste to the Materials Recovery Facility at 3195 Athens Avenue in Lincoln. Most residential customers and non dumping trailers are charged by the cubic yard after measuring at the public scale houses, while larger commercial customers and customers with dumping trailers or dump trucks are weighed and charged by the ton.
When & how
Take the load to the Materials Recovery Facility, open for disposal Monday to Friday 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The facility opens every day of the year with limited hours on certain holidays. A household that would rather not haul can apply to the city for a temporary 3-yard bin.
Get it ready
Separate the load before arriving, because clean separated recyclables such as cardboard and mixed paper are taken free while the same material mixed into refuse is charged as general refuse. Keep household hazardous waste and electronics out of the refuse load entirely, since both are free at the same site and are barred from the garbage bin by state law.
Appliances have their own published per item rates at the Materials Recovery Facility, with refrigerated units costing more than non refrigerated ones.
City cost & eligibility
From $11 per non refrigerated appliance at the Materials Recovery Facility, with a refrigerated appliance charged $46.50 each. Any customer bringing an appliance to the Materials Recovery Facility at 3195 Athens Avenue in Lincoln. Both rates are published line items, so the charge follows the unit rather than the size of the load.
When & how
Take the unit to the Materials Recovery Facility during disposal hours, Monday to Friday 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Get it ready
Empty the unit, secure the doors, and keep it out of the garbage can, where large items do not belong. A unit holding refrigerant is charged the higher line and should arrive whole so the facility can handle the refrigerant rather than the resident.
Household hazardous waste is free for Placer County residents at the Materials Recovery Facility, every day, with a per drop-off cap on how much can be brought at once.
City cost & eligibility
No charge. Free for Placer County residents dropping household hazardous waste at the Materials Recovery Facility, with a limit of 15 gallons or 125 pounds per drop-off. A household may also use the free curbside hazardous waste pickup where the program runs, but only with an appointment from the hauler.
When & how
Take the material to the household hazardous waste drop-off at 3195 Athens Avenue in Lincoln, open daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and closed on New Year's Day, the Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.
Get it ready
Keep the load inside the 15 gallon or 125 pound cap, keep products in their own containers and never mix them, and put sharps in a rigid container. The accepted streams include aerosols, antifreeze, batteries, drain cleaners, electronics, cooking fats oils and grease, glues, cleaners, medications, oven cleaners, paints, pesticides, pool cleaners, solvents, used oil, asbestos containing waste and mercury containing items such as fluorescent lights.
Two services need a call first. Electronic and universal waste is collected free at the curb on Wednesdays once Public Works is called on (916) 434-2450, for items that carry both a circuit board and a plug, and automotive fluids and used cooking oil ride the same arrangement. A household that would rather not haul its own refuse can apply to the city for a temporary 3-yard bin while holding an active utility account.
The facility charges most households by the cubic yard at the public scale houses and charges larger loads, dumping trailers and dump trucks by the ton. Clean separated recyclables such as cardboard and mixed paper are free, and household hazardous waste and e-waste are free for residents, while the same material mixed into refuse is charged as general refuse. Separate first and a trip can cost a fraction of a mixed load.
Use a permitted, accessible outdoor spot. Arrange the move out of your home, keep shared access clear and follow your confirmation’s readiness instructions. Check with your building about access or staging limits before booking.

Apply for a temporary 3-yard bin
A Lincoln household with an active utility account and a cleanup load too big for the cans.
Cost & conditions
The city publishes no bin rate and directs residents to the Request for Utility Services bin information, so confirm the charge and the delivery terms with the city before ordering.
Arrange it
Apply through the city's Request for Utility Services page while holding an active utility account, and review the bin information the city publishes there.
The bin is a temporary arrangement for account holders rather than a standing service, and household hazardous waste and electronics still have to go through their own free routes instead of the bin.
