A self-haul permit has an annual fee that the city publishes at $89.08 on the self-haul program page and its 2026 application and at $20 on the residential services page, so confirm the current amount and the landfill gate charge with the city Solid Waste Coordinator at (951) 461-6448.
Arrange it
Apply to the city Solid Waste Coordinator with the annual fee, then haul the material to a county operated landfill, a legitimate recycling facility or a certified organic waste processing facility, and keep the receipts.
The permit is valid for one calendar year, is not prorated, and requires proof of disposal at least once a month with receipts submitted by March 15, July 15 and November 15. Loads have to be secured in transport, and a property on a self-haul permit gives up the free bulky pickup and the curbside used oil service.
Murrieta handles most large items through the hauler and the county rather than a city transfer station.
