Five collections a year are included at no charge for Oceanside residents, and additional broken or soiled items can be scheduled during the landfill weeks the city runs twice a year.
Carts out by 6 a.m. with the lids closed and two feet of clearance
Carts may go out from 4 p.m. the day before service and must be at the curb by 6 a.m. on the service day with the wheels against the curb and the handles facing away from the street. Leave two feet of clearance from parked cars, mailboxes and other carts, keep carts out from under trees and overhead obstructions, close the lid completely, stay under the weight printed on the lid, and take the carts off the street by 11 p.m. after they are serviced.
Construction waste, tires, chemicals and electronics stay out of the carts
The landfill cart refuses construction waste, auto parts, tires, household hazardous waste such as paint, oil and cleaners, medical and electronic waste and food scraps. A cart that is overloaded or contaminated gets a notice of non-collection, the resident removes the material and waits for the next collection, and an additional fee may apply, so the recycled and organic streams stay separate.

Watch for the announced donation and landfill week dates, then set usable goods out during the donation week and broken or soiled items during the landfill week that follows the same programme.
The weeks run only twice a year on announced dates, they are a diversion programme rather than a standing pickup, and the flyers for the current dates are published by the city rather than on a fixed calendar.

Can I book if the delivery company did not take my old appliance?+
Yes. Dropcurb pickup is separate from buying or installing a replacement, so you can book removal on its own. Select the old appliance, choose a pickup day and arrange for it to be disconnected and accessible outside. If your new delivery is still ahead, confirm the retailer’s haul-away arrangements before booking a separate pickup.
