A few pieces, one pickup

Your room has changed. The old furniture can go.

The desk you no longer use. The dresser that doesn’t fit the new layout. The chairs left over after a move. Choose the pieces you’re done with and give them a pickup day, without arranging a quote visit.

Different pieces. One clear total.

Add each furniture item and its quantity. See the combined price before you pay, with loading, transportation and disposal included.

Choose each piece

A table and four chairs are five items.

You don’t need to guess how much space your furniture fills in a truck. Match each piece to the catalog, then add its quantity. Your total updates as you go.

Tables and chairs

Choose the table, then add each chair separately. Coffee tables, side tables and dining tables have their own options. A large or substantially heavy table has a different choice.

Dressers and mirrors

Match the dresser’s overall size. Add a separate dresser mirror as its own item if it is leaving too. Empty drawers and keep the belongings you want before moving the dresser outside.

Desks and bookshelves

Choose by construction, not height alone. A basic desk is different from a heavy desk with a substantial body. A tall, lightweight bookcase can still be a standard bookshelf. Empty it first.

Couches, sofas and furniture

Accepted with preparation

Household furniture is not on the city's refused list, so a couch goes out on one of the two free bulky pickups as long as it fits the three cubic yard allowance and two people can lift it.

City cost & eligibility
No charge. Included in the two free bulky item pickups a year available to City of Pasadena refuse customers, within the three cubic yard allowance.
When & how
Book the pickup on 626-744-7311 at least two weeks before the regular trash day, list the furniture when you call, and set it out for the scheduled weekday between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Get it ready
Put the furniture on the parkway between the sidewalk and the street, no more than 24 hours before the scheduled day and by 7 a.m., and keep it clear of the street. Keep glass and mirrors visible to the crew, and leave anything two people cannot lift for a private route.

The handoff matters

Right item.
Right place.

The parkway is the collection point

Bulky items go on the parkway between the sidewalk and the street, in front of the house, and the resident has to put them there because city staff cannot enter private property. Nothing goes out before the pickup is scheduled, everything is out no more than 24 hours before the scheduled day and by 7 a.m. that morning, and early set-out can draw a citation from Code Enforcement. The pile may fill no more than a three cubic yard bin, about four feet wide, five feet long and four feet high, and each item has to be light enough for two people to lift safely.

What the bulky truck will not take

Electronic waste such as televisions, DVD players, cellphones, gaming consoles, computers and monitors is refused, along with construction and roofing material such as concrete, cement, bricks, roof shingles, tiles and drywall, household hazardous materials such as paint, batteries, fertilizer, oil and cleaning supplies, landscaping project material such as dirt, sand, gravel, large branches and stumps, bushes and railroad ties, and automobile parts except up to two tires without rims. Refrigerators and air conditioning units are refused as well. Wood, pipe and branches must be no longer than three feet and tied into easy to handle bundles, and glass and mirrors should stay visible to the crew.

City of Pasadena Public Works Department

Schedule a free bulky item pickup

A City of Pasadena refuse customer with furniture, a mattress, a household appliance or other bulky material that fits a three cubic yard pile and can be lifted by two people.

Cost & conditions
No charge. Two free bulky item pickups a year for households with city refuse service, subject to scheduling availability. Extra items and any pickup beyond the two free ones are charged.
Arrange it
Call 626-744-7311 at least two weeks before the regular trash day, list the items, and place them on the parkway between the sidewalk and the street for the scheduled weekday.

The load is limited to three cubic yards and to what two people can lift, pickups are not scheduled on holidays, electronics, construction material, hazardous waste, landscaping project debris, refrigerators and air conditioning units are refused, and residents whose trash is collected by a private hauler have to contact that hauler.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Pasadena keeps bulky items on the parkway and sends chemicals and electronics off site. A city refuse customer schedules two free bulky pickups a year on 626-744-7311, at least two weeks ahead, with the pile on the parkway between the sidewalk and the street, within a three cubic yard bin and light enough for two people. Anything the city refuses has its own route. Household hazardous waste goes free to a Los Angeles S.A.F.E. collection center or a county one-day event, with a 15 gallon or 125 pound per visit limit and the origin address requested at drop-off. Electronic waste also has the city one-day events at the Rose Bowl, and batteries and light bulbs drop off at selected Pasadena libraries and community centers. Renovation material runs through the city construction and demolition ordinance and a rented bin or authorised hauler rather than the curb. Refrigerators and air conditioning units are refused by the bulky service and by the e-waste events, so those need a retailer take-back or a private hauler. Note that the S.A.F.E. center addresses sit behind a location map on the LA Sanitation page, so confirm the nearest site before a trip. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

Furniture removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Pasadena.

How much does furniture removal cost in Pasadena?

Choose the type and size of each piece to see its price. For example, a medium dresser is $79 as the first item or $29 as an additional item. Your total starts with the highest first-item price in your selection, then uses the additional-item price for every other item. Review the complete total and any applicable tax before payment.

Can I get same-day furniture pickup in Pasadena?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup and choose from the dates shown at checkout. Arrange to have the furniture outside according to your confirmation. You receive a text when your hauler is on the way and photos after collection.

Will you remove furniture from inside my apartment?

Dropcurb starts outside. You arrange indoor carrying, including any interior stairs or elevator trip. We load and take away the furniture from an accessible outdoor location. Check your building’s rules and plan the route out before booking.

Can you take several different furniture items in one pickup?

Yes. Add each piece and its quantity to one booking. A dining table and four chairs are five items; a separate mirror is not included with a dresser. You can mix eligible items from different rooms and review their combined total before paying.

Do I need to take furniture apart before pickup?

You arrange any disassembly needed to move the furniture out of your home and into an accessible outdoor pickup spot. Dropcurb does not provide indoor disassembly or carrying. If you are unsure which catalog choice matches a dismantled or unusual piece, send a photo and ask before booking.

Will Pasadena pick up a couch from the parkway?

Furniture is not on the city's refused list, so a couch can go out on one of the two free bulky pickups a year that a city refuse customer can schedule. Call 626-744-7311 at least two weeks ahead, list the couch when you book, and place it on the parkway between the sidewalk and the street no more than 24 hours before the scheduled day.Official guidance

Who collects trash and bulky items in Pasadena?

The city Public Works Department collects refuse from residential properties itself, and the City Service Center on 626-744-7311 handles bulky item appointments, bin rentals and used oil collections. Households whose trash is collected by a private hauler, such as apartment buildings, arrange bulky pickup with that hauler instead.Official guidance

How do I book a bulky pickup and what can go out?

Call 626-744-7311 at least two weeks before your regular trash day and list the items you are putting out. The pile may fill no more than a three cubic yard bin, about four feet wide, five feet long and four feet high, each item has to be light enough for two people, and everything goes on the parkway between the sidewalk and the street within 24 hours of the pickup.Official guidance
