Match your item

Construction cleanup starts with the right items.

We currently accept the doors, toilets and bathroom vanities listed here, already detached and ready outside. Choose each item separately. Mixed drywall, tile, concrete, lumber and demolition rubble are not accepted, including in bags.

Doors

Count each detached door panel separately. Have it removed from its hinges before pickup. A whole installed doorway or garage door is not the same item.

Toilets

Choose Toilet for an ordinary household toilet that has already been disconnected, drained and moved outside. Text a photo before booking if yours is broken or has loose sharp pieces.

Bathroom vanities

Choose the small, standard or large bathroom vanity that matches your sink cabinet. A makeup table has a separate choice. Plumbing disconnection and removal from the wall happen before pickup.

Construction and demolition debris

Not on the regular city route

Construction and demolition debris is refused by the bulky program, so project loads move through the county disposal sites or a rented container.

City cost & eligibility
The Petaluma bulky item page lists construction and demolition debris among the materials that are not accepted. Project loads instead go to the Central Landfill on Mecham Road or one of the four county transfer stations, which take disposal loads for a fee, or into a temporary cleanup bin published by the hauler from 1.5 cubic yards up to 6 cubic yards for seven days.
When & how
Take the load to the Central Landfill, which is open Monday through Saturday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and closed Sundays, or to a county transfer station, and check the holiday closures before travelling.
Get it ready
Keep construction material out of the bulky pile and out of the carts, because neither takes it. Treated wood is handled as hazardous waste under California law and is refused by the household hazardous waste facility, so ask the disposal site how treated wood should be handled before loading it.

Send electronics and hazardous material to their own sites

Electronics are refused on the Petaluma bulky pickup and drop free at County Refuse Disposal Sites or county e-waste events, with personal data wiped first. Batteries can go in a sealed bag on top of the recycling cart on the service day, motor oil and filters go out in a hauler supplied kit next to the recycling cart, and paints, chemicals and propane go to the household hazardous waste facility at the Central Disposal Site.

Temporary cleanup bin for a larger job

Households with a cleanup or project load that will not fit a bulky pickup or the carts.

Cost & conditions
From $244.17 for the published seven day cleanup bin rate for a 1.5 cubic yard bin, with larger bins published up to 6 cubic yards. Petaluma customers renting a temporary cleanup bin from the hauler, subject to the bin guidelines.
Arrange it
Call Recology Sonoma Marin at (800) 243-0291 to order the bin and review the bin guidelines before it is delivered.

Priced per bin size for a seven day rental, so a bigger bin or a longer rental costs more, and the bin still has to be loaded with material the hauler accepts.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Petaluma residents have three self haul routes on Mecham Road and around the county. The Central Landfill at 500 Mecham Road takes disposal loads Monday through Saturday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with a Reuse and Recycling Center for scrap metal, cardboard, glass, metal and plastic containers and newspaper, a Recycletown reuse area for donated goods next to the recycling drop-off zone, and free drop-off for accepted electronics at county refuse disposal sites. The household hazardous waste facility in Building 5 at the same address takes paint, chemicals, cleaners, medications, batteries and small propane cylinders free for county residents on Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with a per vehicle limit of 15 gallons of liquid or 125 pounds of solid material. County transfer stations in Annapolis, Guerneville, Healdsburg and Sonoma offer the same disposal access closer to those communities. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

Construction debris removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Petaluma.

How much does construction debris removal cost in Petaluma?

Pricing is per accepted item. A detached door is $99 as a single item, an ordinary toilet is $79, and a small bathroom vanity is $99. Larger vanities have their own choices. Select the listed items to see the exact combined price. These prices do not cover mixed rubble or loose building materials. Loading, transportation and disposal are included; applicable sales tax appears before payment.

Can I get same-day toilet or vanity pickup in Petaluma?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup, where available. Checkout shows the dates you can choose. Arrange disconnection, removal and the move outside first, then have the fixture ready by the time in your confirmation. We text you before arrival and provide pickup photos when it is done.

Will you disconnect a sink or take a door off its hinges?

The fixture must already be detached, disconnected and accessible outside at ground level. Arrange plumbing, electrical work, removal from walls or hinges, and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb handles loading and haul-away from your outdoor pickup spot.

Can I add bags of drywall, tile or other demolition waste?

Mixed drywall, tile, concrete, lumber and demolition rubble are not accepted. This page offers pickup for the listed doors, toilets and bathroom vanities that are already removed. Do not book loose building materials as household trash bags or as an extra item. Arrange suitable disposal for those materials with your contractor or a debris specialist.

Can a door, toilet and vanity go in the same pickup?

Yes. Add each listed fixture separately and choose the correct vanity size. Each detached door panel counts as one item. The combined price appears before you book. Keep the fixtures together outside, separate from anything staying, and add a location photo on your order page.

Where does construction debris go?

The bulky program refuses construction and demolition debris. Loads are taken to the Central Landfill at 500 Mecham Road in Petaluma, open Monday through Saturday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., or to one of the county transfer stations, and the hauler also publishes temporary cleanup bin rates for larger jobs.Official guidance

What about treated wood?

The hauler states that treated wood waste is accepted for disposal and is treated as hazardous waste under California law, and the county household hazardous waste facility lists pressure treated and treated wood waste among the materials it does not accept. Ask the disposal site where the treated material should go before hauling it.Official guidance

Who collects trash in Petaluma?

Recology Sonoma Marin is the hauler for Petaluma, with a customer service line at (800) 243-0291 and an office at 1309 Dynamic Street. The City can be reached at (707) 778-4345, and countertop kitchen pails are available at the hauler office and at City Hall.Official guidance

When is street sweeping?

Street sweeping runs weekly the next business day after the regular collection day, and customers with Friday collection are swept the following Monday. Cars should be moved off the street on sweep day so the sweeper has full access.Official guidance

How do batteries and motor oil go out?

Household batteries can be placed in a sealed plastic bag on top of the recycling cart on the service day for single family residences, or taken to a participating retailer or government facility. Motor oil and filters go out in a hauler supplied kit placed next to the recycling cart rather than inside it, once the pickup is requested.Official guidance

What electronics are accepted at the county sites?

Televisions of every screen type, monitors, desktop and laptop computers, printers, copiers, cell phones, microwaves, cables, servers, stereos, tablets and battery embedded products are accepted. Large appliances, loose batteries, lamps and bulbs, fans, gas cylinders, small kitchen appliances, vacuum cleaners, wood encased speakers and exercise or sporting equipment are not.Official guidance
