The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.
Flat-screen TVs
Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.
Tube TVs
An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.
TV stands and other electronics
The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

The city names electronics inside the same free pickup service as bulky items, so a television or monitor leaves on a requested bulky and e-waste pickup. Los Angeles County also takes e-waste free at its collection events, permanent centers and weekend S.A.F.E. centers.

Two days ahead, four items a week, curbside or by the dumpster
The bulky and electronics service is not automatic. The request goes in through the Athens online form or by phone at (888) 336-6100 two days before the regular collection day, and the items wait at the curb for a house or next to the trash dumpster for a multi-family property. Four bulky or electronic items are allowed each week, items are removed on request only, and nothing goes inside a trash or recycling container because the hauler warns that doing so can interrupt service.
Automobile parts are refused, construction and demolition debris is refused including dirt, concrete, tile, drywall and rock, and loose or scattered building material and lumber are refused. Hazardous waste is refused as well, covering antifreeze, automotive fluids, cleaning products, compressed gas cylinders whether full or empty, fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides, paint, pharmaceuticals, pool chemicals and solvents. Those materials have their own routes: a rented container for construction debris, and Los Angeles County's free household hazardous waste and e-waste collection events, permanent centers and weekend S.A.F.E. centers for everything hazardous.

No charge. The city publishes the bulky item and electronics pickup as free to single family and multi-family residents, limited to four bulky or electronic items a week, with items removed only when a request has been made.

Submit the Athens bulky item request online or call (888) 336-6100 two days before the regular collection day, then place the items at the curb or next to the trash dumpster.

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.
