No charge. Included in the two scheduled bulky collections a year of up to two items each for residential account holders. The multi-family apartment route runs through the city's monthly collection day, whose rate the city does not publish, so confirm that charge when the event is scheduled.

Get it ready
Keep the mattress dry and under the 100 pound and eight foot collection limits, and keep it out of the curbside clean-up week pile, where bulky items are refused. Apartment residents may bring up to one pickup truck bed's worth of items to the event.
Two scheduled collections, two items each, 24 hours notice
A residential account holder gets two scheduled bulky item collections a year at no extra charge, each taking up to two items, requested from Marin Sanitary Service with at least 24 hours of notice plus the item dimensions and approximate weight. Anything over 60 pounds or six feet carries a fee for special equipment or a helper, and nothing over 100 pounds or eight feet is collected except appliances. Telephone estimates can change once the driver sees the load.
The twice yearly clean-up week takes bags, not bulky items
Curbside clean-ups run twice a year and the week depends on the town and the billing cycle printed on the bill. During that week up to 14 bags, about two cubic yards, of garbage, recycling and compostables go out at no extra cost on the normal service day, with bags or cans capped at 60 pounds and 32 gallons, yard waste in paper bags and no plastic, and extra recycling in a container or small cardboard box. Mattresses, appliances, furniture, hazardous waste, electronics, batteries, light bulbs, paint, dirt, rock and construction material are all refused.

Multi-family apartment residents only, no single-family residents and no businesses. Household hazardous waste, including electronics, batteries, paint, light bulbs, motor oil and cleaning products, is refused, as are refrigerators, microwaves and construction materials.
