Get it ready
Count each piece within the five-item limit, keep it out of the barrels, and keep the pile clear of the street and alley.
Barrels go out the night before or no later than 6 a.m. on the collection day, either in the street with the wheels against the curb or, on alley service, in the alley away from any structures, and they come back out of sight by the night they are emptied.

The city's own household hazardous waste facility at Public Works, 1370 N. Benson Ave., is open every Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., free for San Bernardino County residents except Fontana, with a limit of 15 gallons or 125 pounds per trip and no business waste, and it refuses refrigerators and air conditioning units so those stay on the bulky route.
