Book the bulky pickup with Burrtec a week ahead, or take the device to the hazardous waste facility at 1370 N. Benson Ave. on a Saturday between 7:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.
Get it ready
Keep electronics out of the barrels, wipe or reset anything that stores data, and at the facility keep the material under 15 gallons or 125 pounds per trip with the waste in the back of the vehicle.
Barrels go out the night before or no later than 6 a.m. on the collection day, either in the street with the wheels against the curb or, on alley service, in the alley away from any structures, and they come back out of sight by the night they are emptied.
Book the bulky pickup a week ahead and keep to five items
Bulky pickups are free for residential barrel customers up to four times in a rolling calendar year, limited to five items per collection, and must be arranged at least one week before the scheduled collection day. Furniture, mattresses, appliances and electronic waste are the named items. Multi-family customers with dumpster service arrange their building's pickups through property management.

Solar panels, CO2 canisters, electric scooter or bike batteries, refrigerators, air conditioning units, explosives, asbestos, radioactive waste and medical waste are refused.

If a device cannot be erased or contains sensitive business information, arrange suitable data handling before giving it away.
