West Sacramento publishes no mattress fee. Confirm the charge with Waste Management when booking a bulky waste appointment, or with the landfill, DR3 Mattress Recyclers or IKEA before dropping a mattress off.
When & how
Book a bulky waste appointment with Waste Management at (866) 844-1508, or drop off at the Yolo County Central Landfill on County Road 28H in Woodland, DR3 Mattress Recyclers at 1233 Commerce Avenue in Woodland, or IKEA.
Get it ready
Ask the retailer to remove the old mattress when a new one is delivered, which California requires. A mattress does not go into a curbside cart.
Carts and appointments follow your street's service day
Curbside collection runs on your street's collection day and is unaffected by holidays except Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day, when residents are notified in advance of any change. Waste Management is the exclusive cart and front load trash provider in West Sacramento, and billing questions go to City Utility Billing at (916) 617-4589.

Waste Management takes the booking and the City publishes no appointment fee, so confirm the charge when you call.
Arrange it
Call Waste Management at (866) 844-1508 to book one of the two annual appointments, available between July 1 and June 30 for items too large to fit in a curbside cart.
Two appointments per household each year, and the landfill voucher route opens only after both are used.

The City states that some restrictions apply to the voucher.

Household refuse, construction and demolition debris, tires, appliances, mattresses, electronics, wood, concrete, dirt, roof tile and household hazardous waste during hazardous waste hours.
Tires are limited to nine without a permit. Household hazardous waste is accepted only during hazardous waste hours, Thursday through Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Load tickets must list C&D or source-separated recycled material and the recycled weight for a load to count toward the City's diversion requirement.
Monday through Saturday 6:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Sunday 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The landfill sets its own rates by material and weight, and the City publishes no rate table, so confirm the current charge with the landfill at (916) 617-4656 before you haul.
