City cost & eligibility
From $27.5 for the city's reimbursement cap for each of two large items a calendar year. The two reimbursed items may be collected in one pickup or across two, and anything beyond them is charged to the resident's utility bill under Republic Services pricing. The service runs on the first and third Tuesday of the month on a first come, first served basis, and the application has to reach the city by the Wednesday before the scheduled pickup date.

Get it ready
Prepare the item the way the city lists it: a door has to be cut in half and free of glass, a garage door is taken at four feet per section, a couch is charged per section, a mattress or box spring is charged per piece, and a lawn mower is refused unless every fluid has been drained. Anything with a cord has to be wrapped and taped to the side of the item, and no glass or mirrors are accepted at all.
Hot water heaters, dishwashers, stoves, portable microwaves, toilets, porcelain sinks and small appliances without Freon are accepted, while anything with refrigerant is refused.
City cost & eligibility
From $27.5 for the published charge for one acceptable bulk item, reimbursed by the city up to the same amount for two items a year. Each accepted appliance or fixture is listed at 27.50 and can be reimbursed within the two item yearly allowance. A refrigerator, freezer, mini refrigerator, air conditioner or any appliance containing Freon is refused on the city pickup, and the Rooney Road center refers appliances to scrap metal recycling locations without publishing a price, so a refrigerant unit has to be priced separately.

A lawn mower is refused unless every fluid has been drained, and a microwave is taken only if it is portable rather than mounted. Keep refrigeration units out of the pile entirely, because the crew will leave them behind.

For a large item pickup the city sizes each piece the way its list describes it, with doors cut in half and glass free, garage doors taken at four feet per section, a couch charged per section and anything with a cord taped to the item. For the alley cleanup and the drop off days, items go out by 7 a.m., everything is bagged or bundled, no bag or bundle is over fifty pounds, and long pieces are cut to four feet, with branches bundled in four foot lengths no larger than eighteen inches in diameter.
