Louisville publishes no citywide bulky item collection, so an oversized item goes to the city scrap metal container, a Boulder County hard-to-recycle or reuse site, or the hauler on the account.
City cost & eligibility
There is no published municipal bulky rate and the city publishes no rate for its scrap metal container, while the Boulder County hard-to-recycle site publishes item charges, and a hauler's own large item service is priced by that hauler, so ask each route before the item is moved.
When & how
Ask Republic at 303-286-5400 what it offers for a large item, or plan a trip to the scrap metal container at Empire Road and State Highway 42 or to the Boulder County sites during their open hours.
Get it ready
Separate the metal from everything else before hauling, because the city container takes only metal and water heaters and refuses furniture, electronics, chemicals, liquids and yard waste on the spot. A mattress, a refrigerant appliance or a television has its own charge at the county hard-to-recycle site.
A mattress or box spring goes to the Boulder County hard-to-recycle site for a published per unit charge, and the county directory also lists a transfer station that takes them.
City cost & eligibility
From $30 for one mattress or box spring at the hard-to-recycle site. A mattress or box spring is charged 30.00 each, a foam topper 10.00, and a box spring with two or more pieces is charged proportionally as multiple units, all on top of the 3.00 facility fee per vehicle. The county construction and demolition directory also lists Western Disposal at 5880 Butte Mill Rd. as accepting mattresses and box springs without publishing a fee.
When & how
Take the set to 6400 Arapahoe Rd. Monday through Saturday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., or ask Western Disposal at 303-444-2037 about its transfer station terms.
Get it ready
Keep the mattress dry and free of mold and pests, because the hard-to-recycle site refuses bedding with either. It is also refused at the city scrap metal container, so it has to go to the county site or the transfer station.
The city container at the RV Dump Station on Empire Road at State Highway 42 takes scrap metal, aluminum, brass, bronze, copper, stainless steel, steel and water heaters, and it is monitored around the clock. It refuses chemicals, electronics, furniture, hazardous waste, household garbage, paint cans, solvents and liquids, and yard or landscaping material, so those loads have to go to the county sites instead.
Use a permitted, accessible outdoor spot. Arrange the move out of your home, keep shared access clear and follow your confirmation’s readiness instructions. Check with your building about access or staging limits before booking.

The city publishes the accepted metals and the 24 hour video monitoring but no rate for the scrap metal container, so confirm the terms with Louisville Public Works on 303-335-4608 before hauling a load. Arrange it
Drive to the RV Dump Station at Empire Road and State Highway 42, which is also where the city's RV dump station is located.
Metal only, and an appliance with refrigerant is refused, so a refrigerator, freezer or air conditioner goes to the county hard-to-recycle site instead. Electronics and furniture have their own routes and should not be left at the container.

A household with a mattress, a refrigerant appliance, a television or monitor, other electronics, concrete, ceramics, a toilet or sink, film plastics or books to divert.
Cost & conditions
From $3 for the facility fee charged for each vehicle entering the site. The facility fee is charged once per vehicle and waived for customers arriving by bicycle. Item charges on top include 45.00 per refrigerant appliance, 30.00 per mattress or box spring, 10.00 per topper, 0.69 per pound for CRT televisions and monitors, 0.59 per pound for flat screen screens, small plastic appliances and miscellaneous electronics, 0.10 per pound for ceramics and concrete, and 5.00 or 25.00 per toilet, sink or urinal depending on fixtures. Computers, mobile phones, scrap metal that is at least half metal and free of refrigerant, books, clothing and film plastics are covered by the facility fee.
Arrange it
Drive to 6400 Arapahoe Rd. Monday through Saturday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., stop at the window to pay and get directions, and unload in the marked zones.
The site is closed Sunday, refuses automotive tires, pressurized tanks even when empty, moldy or bed bug infested bedding, items with food or liquid residue, biohazards and loose glass components, and requires gas powered equipment to arrive drained of oil and gas.

Can you pick up my old mattress when my new one arrives?+
You can choose an offered pickup day around your replacement delivery. First check whether the retailer already includes old-mattress removal, and arrange who will bring it outside if needed.
