Room for what comes next

Your space can have a new purpose.

A home office. Room for a guest. A little more floor to enjoy. When an old machine is in the way, a clear pickup plan makes the next step easier.

The room is changing.

Book the equipment you are ready to let go of, whether it is one exercise bike or several machines. See the total before making the plan.

A replacement is coming.

Check whether your retailer includes removal. If the old treadmill is still your responsibility, give it a pickup day of its own.

It is not making the move.

Settle the price online, arrange to have it outside, and follow the pickup through text updates and completion photos. One less thing to coordinate before the keys change hands.

Match the machine

The right choice covers the right equipment.

Choose by the type of equipment. A brand name does not mean a different item, but a walking pad and a full treadmill do.

Treadmill, walking pad or commercial model?

Household treadmill includes folding home models with a tall console. Choose Walking pad for a compact under-desk model, or Commercial treadmill for a large gym machine. All equipment opens those choices.

An exercise bike, elliptical or rower

Spin, upright, recumbent and air bikes all use Exercise bike, including Peloton and other brands. One elliptical includes its connected base, handles and pedals. Rowing machines and Pilates reformers have their own choices.

Weights, racks and benches

Add together the pounds of loose dumbbells, kettlebells, plates and barbells. Free weights are priced in 10 lb units, rounding the combined weight up. For example, 25 lb uses three units. Add a stand, rack or bench separately if it is going too.

Ready for pickup

Plan the move outside before pickup day.

A machine can be too heavy or awkward for a solo move. Arrange suitable help for indoor carrying, stairs or any dismantling needed to reach the outdoor pickup spot.

A pickup day is not an exact arrival window. Tell us before booking about a shared loading area, restricted outdoor access or equipment whose size or setup you are unsure how to select.

Exercise equipment

Special rules apply

Exercise equipment is not named on the city's acceptable item list for the special pickup or on the Recycling Center's accepted material lists, so a treadmill or weight machine has to be confirmed with the Solid Waste Division before it goes out. A machine that fits a standard pickup load could otherwise use the annual voucher, which is for oversized household items rather than hazardous or electronic material.

City cost & eligibility
No Loveland list names exercise equipment, so call the Solid Waste Division at 970-962-2529 and describe the machine. A machine accepted on the curbside route is quoted by size and volume, while a machine accepted in a cleanup load can use the annual voucher.
When & how
Call 970-962-2529 to confirm the machine, then book the special curbside pickup or take it to the Recycling Center with the voucher during center hours.
Get it ready
Describe the machine and its heaviest piece when calling, take it apart as far as it comes apart so it can be handled, and keep the console or battery pack separate if it is electronic.

The cleanup voucher has a size limit and a list it will not cover

The Household Clean-up voucher is for a City of Loveland resident who pays the monthly solid waste programs fee, it is valid for one year, it can be used once, and it is not available at the Recycling Center. The load cannot exceed a standard pickup load equivalent, about 2.7 cubic yards, and it has to arrive with household trash bagged and recyclables separated from the cleanup material. The voucher does not cover hazardous waste of any kind, which the city lists as computers, televisions, tires, mattresses, electronic equipment, paint, fluorescent bulbs, cleaning products, asbestos containing material, solvents, acids, degreasers, pesticides and adhesives, and normal fees apply to certain items the center takes.

The curbside special pickup runs on weekdays with notice

A special curbside pickup for an oversized item is scheduled Monday through Friday with a 24 hour notice by calling the Solid Waste Division at 970-962-2529, and the fee is based on the size and volume of the pickup and billed to the city utility account. The city's acceptable list names sofas, refrigerators, hot water heaters, mattresses, chairs, carpeting which needs a quote, and doors, plus televisions and other large items. A household that still has its annual cleanup voucher can drop the same item at the Recycling Center free instead.

Cart rules that apply all year and matter most in snow

Only trash carts with a closed lid are collected, and an overfilled cart is not acceptable. Since January 2, 2023 a resident may set out up to five 32 gallon or 50 pound bags beside the cart and a four dollar charge per bag is added to the next utility bill, with the driver's camera system documenting the count. In snow, the city asks residents to shovel a path to both carts, keep the carts clear of snow and off ice, put them as far into the street as possible rather than behind a snow bank, and leave two feet of space on either side for the collection arms.

City of Loveland Public Works Solid Waste Division

Schedule the special curbside pickup

A household with a couch, a mattress, a refrigerator, a hot water heater, carpeting or another oversized item that will not fit the cart.

Cost & conditions
The fee is based on the size and volume of the pickup, with a quote required for carpeting, and the city reads it off the quoted load rather than publishing a schedule, so ask at 970-962-2529 for the price before the pickup is booked.
Arrange it
Call the Solid Waste Division at 970-962-2529, schedule Monday through Friday with at least 24 hours of notice, and set the item out as directed.

The pickup is billed to the city utility account, carpeting needs its own quote, and hazardous waste, electronic equipment that the center will not take, and anything the center refuses cannot ride this route.

Use the annual Household Clean-up voucher

A resident who pays the monthly solid waste programs fee and has one load of oversized household material that is not hazardous or electronic.

Cost & conditions
No charge. One voucher per household per year, valid for that year and usable once, for a load of no more than a standard pickup, about 2.7 cubic yards, dropped at the Recycling Center. Vouchers do not cover hazardous waste of any kind, including computers, televisions, tires, mattresses, electronic equipment, paint, bulbs, cleaning products, solvents, acids, degreasers, pesticides and adhesives, and normal fees apply to certain items the center accepts.
Arrange it
Request the voucher through the city form with the account number, name, address and phone number, receive it electronically within 24 business hours, then take the load to 400 N. Wilson Avenue during center hours.

The voucher is not available at the Recycling Center, expires after a year and can be used only once, a load with unacceptable items is turned away, and household trash has to be bagged and recyclables separated before the load is accepted.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Self hauling in Loveland means the city Recycling Center at 400 N. Wilson Avenue, closed Mondays and open Tuesday through Sunday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. A resident who pays the monthly solid waste programs fee can request the annual Household Clean-up voucher, which drops one load of up to a standard pickup, about 2.7 cubic yards, of oversized household material free, with household trash bagged and recyclables separated. Anything the voucher does not cover goes at the published fees: each mattress or box spring at the center's per piece rate, with an infested unit refused, and a separate charge for anything containing refrigerant such as a refrigerator, freezer or air conditioning unit. Television and monitor fees are on a linked sheet, yard waste rates apply to non residents and commercial customers, and the center takes metal, small appliances, raw lumber, plywood, particleboard, pallets, shake shingles, concrete in pieces of 30 inches or smaller in a load of no more than 2.5 cubic yards, batteries and car seats. Hazardous material is refused entirely: paint, chemicals, solvents, pesticides, propane tanks, motor oil and fluorescent tubes go to the Larimer County household hazardous waste depot at the Central Diversion and Transfer Station, and the city runs a free paint and document shredding event as well.
