Get it ready
Keep the unit clean and dry and out of the weekly carts, confirm the counter price or the pickup charge before loading, and cancel a scheduled pickup by email at least 24 hours ahead because a cancellation after 8 a.m. on the service day carries a fee and a missed pickup means paying the transportation fee again.
Southglenn is unincorporated, so a household contracts a private hauler for the weekly trash, recycling and organics service and arranges large items with that hauler. Arapahoe County publishes no residential collection, transfer station or landfill programme, so the public route for a load that will not fit the cart is a self hauled trip to the Denver Arapahoe Disposal Site at 3500 South Gun Club Road in Aurora, open weekdays from 6 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Saturday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and closed Sunday.
The Habitat Metro Denver ReStores consider gently used furniture, housewares and appliances for donation and take them at a donation dock open every day from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Littleton store on West Quincy Avenue and the other Metro Denver locations, with every piece approved by staff. The same programme refuses mattresses, electronics, paint, used batteries, fluorescent lighting and non working appliances, so those items go to the recycler, the hazardous waste centre or the landfill gate instead.
