Get it ready
Keep concrete, masonry, gravel, dirt, sod and rocks out of a Click and Haul pile, keep construction debris out of the recycling drop-offs, which refuse it, and cover every load going to the landfill day because uncovered loads are not accepted.
The pile goes in the street on the morning of the collection
Click and Haul items go on the street, entirely off the property, by 7 a.m. on the scheduled collection day, where a car would parallel park. Nothing goes out more than 24 hours before the collection, the pile needs space around it and away from tree branches and parked cars, and items left in the yard, driveway or sidewalk are not collected. A resident who cannot move the load to the street can ask the Community Connections division at 720-977-5800 about help.
The recycling drop-off bins at the Municipal Service Center and the Infrastructure Maintenance Center take household recyclables only and refuse plastic bags, scrap metal, electronics, appliances, construction debris, textiles, yard waste and liquids. The Infrastructure Maintenance Center takes appliances, motor oil and antifreeze in sealed containers up to four gallons and organic material in three gallon compostable bags, and it refuses paint, televisions, furniture and general trash debris, and it serves Thornton residents only, never commercial or landscaping companies.

Self-haul in Thornton means a city site or a city event rather than a public landfill. The Infrastructure Maintenance Center at 12450 Washington St. takes appliances such as refrigerators, dishwashers and water heaters on weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. through the north gate at 126th Ave. and Ogden St., motor oil and antifreeze up to four gallons, and organic material in three gallon compostable bags, and it refuses paint, televisions, furniture and general trash debris. Who collects trash in Thornton?+
