Get it ready
Check the accepted list before loading, because the station refuses appliances, food preparation appliances, electrical lawn equipment, electrical exercise equipment, medical devices, personal hygiene items, toys and smoke or carbon monoxide detectors, and remove a battery first where the county asks for it.
Sort the load before arriving, because the county takes electronics at its own station, routes cooling appliances through the resource recovery area, and recycles mattresses only when they are dry and free of bedbugs. Cover and secure the load, since an uncovered load is charged double, and confirm the receiving facility and the load charge before leaving.

Take the material to the hazardous waste facility at 5887 S. Taft Hill Road in Fort Collins, open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 8 am to 4:30 pm and closed to the public on Wednesday.
The limit is 30 gallons per vehicle measured by container size with no container larger than 5 gallons and up to 10 fluorescent bulbs per visit, carried in non-leaking labeled containers and packaged upright in boxes. Appliances that hold freon, electronics, tires, radioactive material, propane tanks larger than grill size and waste from businesses are refused.

Larimer County closed the landfill to disposal on August 3, 2026 and moved waste disposal to this transfer station, so confirm the site for the load. Charges are set by vehicle type or by cubic yard and an uncovered or unsecured load is charged double. Electronics are banned from Colorado landfills, cooling appliances go to the resource recovery area rather than the hazardous waste drop-off, and mattress recycling applies only to pieces that are dry and free of bedbugs.
