No charge. The county offers electronics recycling to residents at no published charge, either curbside with the regular garbage or through the drive through drop off at the Topaz Court facility, and certified recyclers erase or destroy hard drives and memory containing devices.
When & how
Put the device out with the regular garbage on the collection day, or take it to 6441 Topaz Court in Fort Myers on a weekday between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. or on the first Saturday of the month between 8 a.m. and noon.
Get it ready
Erase all personal data before the device leaves the house. Wires and cables, keyboards and mice, remote controls, modems and routers, microwaves and toaster ovens, corded vacuum cleaners, solar panels and satellite dishes are not part of the electronics program and go in the regular household garbage instead.
A couch, sectional, hot tub, mattress, fence section or appliance is set at the curb next to the regular garbage, and the hauler sends a separate truck within three business days when the piece will not fit the regular collection truck. Hazardous chemicals, paint, pool chemicals and propane never go in a curbside pile, because the county directs them to the Topaz Court drop off instead.

No charge. Household chemical waste and electronics drop off is free to residents through a drive through process, and the county also runs collection events around Lee County during the year. The Reuse Center at the same facility offers latex paint and household chemicals back to residents at no charge.

To the Construction and Demolition Debris Recycling Facility at 10550 Buckingham Rd in Fort Myers, open Monday through Wednesday from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Thursday and Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 6:30 a.m. to noon, with every load checked in at the Scale House.
