Building materials, tires, motor oil and hazardous waste never go to the curb.

It goes to the Log House Road Transfer Station at 10435 Log House Road in Clermont, which Lake County now lists as open Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. while the city guide still prints Wednesdays and Saturdays, so call 352-394-5137 before a trip, or to the county's central household hazardous waste center at 13130 County Landfill Road in Tavares, open Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., where household limits apply such as 50 gallons of paint a year or 10 gallons a day at a drop off center.Official guidance
Small amounts can go in the green cart, while larger amounts are neatly stacked, bagged or tied in bundles with limbs cut to four feet or less and no more than six inches in diameter. A pickup should not weigh more than 50 pounds or be more than 12 plastic garbage bags, bags weigh 50 pounds or less each, and yard waste goes on the opposite side of the driveway from the green cart.
