Finish clearing the space
The last few things still deserve a pickup.
You have decided what is going. Now give those bags and boxes a pickup day, with a price you can see before anyone arrives.
The move is nearly done.
Book the unwanted bags and boxes left after packing. Choose an available pickup day before you hand back the keys, and arrange to have them outside.
The clear-out can be finished.
You do not need a whole house of junk. Select the bags, boxes and larger items you actually have. Your combined price is shown online.
You want to know it is handled.
When the next collection does not fit your plans, choose a Dropcurb pickup day. Updates keep you informed, and completion photos show when the booked items are gone.
A few simple choices turn a mixed pile into a clear booking. No need to estimate how much of a truck it might fill.
Filled bags and boxes
Count each trash bag or filled household box. Books and media go by the box. Clothes, bedding and shoes go by the filled bag. Toys packed together have a Box of toys choice. Ask us about unusually heavy or oversized bags and boxes first.
Empty cardboard and containers
Empty cardboard is a different choice: choose single empty boxes or tied bundles of 10 flattened boxes. Compacted bales have their own weight-based choices and require loading-dock access. A Storage bin choice covers the empty bin itself; ask us to confirm the contents if they are going too.
Furniture and other larger items
Add the actual larger item alongside your bags and boxes, such as a sofa, chair or mattress. It has its own price and preparation. Keep construction materials and items needing special handling out of ordinary household bags.

Four bulk yard waste or bulk junk collections a calendar year are free, up to 20 cubic yards each, and they are arranged by phone or email.
City cost & eligibility
From $13.81 for the charge per cubic yard for a bulk yard waste or bulk junk collection beyond the four free collections in a calendar year. Customers are provided four free yard waste or bulk junk collections a calendar year, up to 20 cubic yards each, with the year running from January 1 to December 31. A collection beyond the four is charged 13.81 per cubic yard with a 30.66 minimum.
When & how
Email customer service at solidwastemanagement@lakelandgov.net with the address and the type of material at the curb, or call 863-834-8773 to arrange the collection.
Get it ready
Bulk yard waste is plant material too large to be containerized, or a pile bigger than six feet by four feet, and no item may be longer than eight feet. Furniture, mattresses, box springs, bed frames, couches, chairs and other household items may go to the curb, and appliances go out on a separate special truck for recycling.
Used furniture, couches, chairs and other household items may be placed curbside for one of the free bulk junk collections.
City cost & eligibility
No charge. Furniture goes out inside the four free bulk junk collections a calendar year, each up to 20 cubic yards, and a collection beyond those four is charged by the cubic yard with a 30.66 minimum.
When & how
Arrange the collection by email or at 863-834-8773, then put the furniture at the curb for the scheduled day.
Get it ready
Keep the piece clear of the cart and off the sidewalk so the truck can reach it, and offer usable furniture for donation first if a local charity will take it.
Mattresses, box springs and bed frames are named in the bulk junk list and go out curbside on a scheduled collection.
City cost & eligibility
No charge. Bedding goes out inside the four free bulk junk collections a calendar year, each up to 20 cubic yards, and a collection beyond those four is charged by the cubic yard with a 30.66 minimum.
When & how
Arrange the collection by email or at 863-834-8773, then set the bedding at the curb for the scheduled day.
Get it ready
Keep the mattress dry and off the sidewalk, and keep it out of the garbage cart, which is only for bagged household waste and small items.
Refrigerators, air conditioners, water heaters, washers, dryers and small appliances are collected by a special bulk truck for recycling.
City cost & eligibility
No charge. Appliance collection is part of the bulk service, with items handled by a special bulk truck for recycling, and the city publishes no separate appliance charge. Items must be curbside before the pickup.
When & how
Arrange the collection by email or at 863-834-8773, and have the appliance at the curb before the truck arrives.
Get it ready
Empty the appliance, remove or secure the doors so nothing can be trapped inside, and keep refrigerant units upright and out of the garbage cart, because the special truck recycles them rather than dumping them with household waste.
Electronics go to the Polk County household hazardous waste facility or a county collection event, with a limit of five components per visit at the facility.
City cost & eligibility
No charge. Polk County accepts household chemical and electronic waste from county residents at no additional fee at the household hazardous waste facility at the North Central Landfill, and the county collection events are also free to residents. The county notes that businesses and other non residential entities are not eligible.
When & how
Take electronics to the county facility at 5 Environmental Loop South in Winter Haven, or to a county collection event. The county schedule lists events including February 6, 2027 at the Lakeland Solid Waste site on 602 Evelyn Ave. from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and the city solid waste office can confirm at 863-834-8773.
Get it ready
The county names computers, monitors, printers, televisions and VHS players, with a limit of five components per visit, and refuses biohazardous waste, hypodermic needles and unused or expired medication. Do not pack items in plastic bags, and wipe personal data before a computer leaves your hands. A retailer such as Best Buy also accepts electronics under its national recycling program.
Only small amounts of building debris from a homeowner's own upkeep and maintenance go out on the bulk route, with protruding nails bent over. Debris from work that needed a city permit or from a hired contractor has to be removed by the homeowner or the contractor, and the city quotes larger construction projects as a commercial service.
City cost & eligibility
From $13.81 for the charge per cubic yard for a bulk collection beyond the four free collections in a calendar year. A small homeowner maintenance load uses the bulk junk allowance of four free collections a calendar year, up to 20 cubic yards each, and a load beyond the allowance is charged 13.81 per cubic yard with a 30.66 minimum. Debris from a job that needed a city permit, or from a hired contractor, is not collected at the curb.
When & how
Arrange the collection by email or at 863-834-8773 for a load the route accepts, and have the material at the curb for the scheduled day.
Get it ready
Bend protruding nails over when lumber is placed curbside, keep the load to the small homeowner maintenance amounts the route accepts, arrange your own removal for debris from a permitted job or a hired contractor, and keep paint, solvents and other chemicals out of the pile because those go to the Polk County household hazardous waste facility instead.
Tires are prohibited in the city carts and are not named in the city bulk list, so the route is a county question or a tire retailer.
City cost & eligibility
The city publishes no tire collection: tires are prohibited in the garbage cart and are not among the materials named in the bulk pickup list, and the Polk County household hazardous waste program does not list tires either, so the price comes from the tire retailer that takes them or from Polk County Solid Waste at 863-284-4319.
When & how
Ask the shop that sells or mounts tires about a take back, and call Polk County Solid Waste at 863-284-4319 about a residential disposal option before bringing tires anywhere.
Get it ready
Keep tires out of the cart and off the bulk pile, and out of the Polk County household hazardous waste load, because the county program does not list tires among its accepted materials.
Exercise equipment is not named in the city's bulk list, so the machine has to be confirmed with the solid waste office.
City cost & eligibility
No published rate covers an exercise machine and the city does not name the category, so call the solid waste office at 863-834-8773 and ask whether the machine can go out as bulk junk inside the four free collections before it is set at the curb.
When & how
Call 863-834-8773 with the machine type, and set it out only if the office confirms it as bulk junk.
Get it ready
Take the machine down as far as it will come apart and keep the loose weights with it, and keep it out of the cart and clear of the sidewalk.
Bulk junk and bulk yard waste are scheduled by emailing customer service with the address and the type of material or by calling 863-834-8773, and the four free collections a calendar year cover up to 20 cubic yards each. Furniture, mattresses, box springs, bed frames, couches, chairs, tree limbs and construction debris with the nails bent over go out together, while appliances wait for the special recycling truck and must be curbside before the pickup.
Use a permitted, accessible outdoor spot. Arrange the move out of your home, keep shared access clear and follow your confirmation’s readiness instructions. Check with your building about access or staging limits before booking.
