Will the city
take it?

Longwood provides garbage collection to every residential property inside the city limits through Waste Pro USA, with the service area split into three sections, yard trash collected city-wide on Wednesdays and everything on the curb before 7 a.m. Bulk waste rides the same contract: the city describes on-demand Waste Pro pickups for major appliances, furniture and mattresses, and the solid waste assessment material published by the city describes weekly bulk waste collection up to six cubic yards. Household hazardous waste and electronics are not collected at the curb, and they go to the Seminole County household hazardous waste facility inside Longwood at the Central Transfer Station on State Road 419, which is free for county households. Construction material and large self-haul loads go to the county landfill in Geneva by weight.

Bulky items and how they leave

Accepted with preparation

Bulk waste is part of the city's Waste Pro contract, with weekly bulk collection up to six cubic yards and on-demand pickups for major appliances, furniture and mattresses.

City cost & eligibility
Longwood publishes no separate bulky item fee, so the cost of a bulk pickup sits inside the residential service the household already pays rather than in a published bulky item price. Ask the city which residential rate applies to the account, and confirm any charge for an on-demand pickup or a load above the weekly allowance with Waste Pro at 407-869-8800 or the city utility billing department at 407-260-3470.
When & how
Call Waste Pro at 407-869-8800, or open a ticket through the city utility billing department at 407-260-3470, and put the items on the curb before 7 a.m. on the collection day. Yard trash goes out on Wednesdays city-wide, and a pickup that would fall on Thanksgiving, Christmas Day or New Year's Day moves to the next scheduled collection day.
Get it ready
Keep the load to household items, because the bulk service covers items too large for the garbage can rather than contractor material, and keep yard trash in its own pile because it is collected on a separate day. Nothing is collected on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day or New Year's Day, when only recycling runs on the New Year holiday.

Couches, chairs and household furniture

Accepted with preparation

Furniture is named among the household items Waste Pro collects on demand as bulk waste, and it falls inside the weekly six cubic yard bulk allowance.

Mattresses and box springs

Accepted with preparation

A mattress is named among the items Waste Pro collects on demand as bulk waste under the city contract.

City cost & eligibility
No mattress rate is published for the city contract, so the cost sits inside the residential service already paid for and any extra charge has to be confirmed. Ask the city at 407-260-3470 which residential rate applies to the account, or Waste Pro at 407-869-8800 about the pickup.
When & how
Call Waste Pro at 407-869-8800 to arrange the mattress pickup, or open a ticket with the city utility billing department at 407-260-3470, and put the mattress on the curb before 7 a.m. on the collection day.
Get it ready
Keep the mattress dry and separate from yard trash, which is collected on Wednesdays, and keep it out of the recycling container, which takes only paper and cardboard, cans, plastic containers and glass. Nothing is collected on the three listed holidays.

Appliances and white goods

Accepted with preparation

Major appliances are named among the items Waste Pro collects on demand as bulk waste, and the county landfill also accepts white goods and appliances for a weighed load.

City cost & eligibility
The city publishes no appliance price for the bulk service, so the cost sits inside the residential service the household pays for and any extra charge has to be confirmed with Waste Pro at 407-869-8800 or the city at 407-260-3470. A self-haul load to the county landfill is charged by weight instead.
When & how
Call Waste Pro at 407-869-8800 to arrange the appliance pickup, or take it to the Seminole County Landfill on 1930 Osceola Road in Geneva, open daily from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., where white goods and appliances are accepted.
Get it ready
Empty the unit and secure or remove the doors, keep the appliance out of the recycling container, and keep it in a household pile rather than with yard trash. Ask how a unit that holds refrigerant has to be prepared before it goes out, because no separate rule is published.

Refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners

Special rules apply

A cooling appliance has no published separate rule, so confirm the unit with Waste Pro before it is set out.

City cost & eligibility
Longwood names major appliances among the bulk items Waste Pro collects, but it publishes no cooling appliance rule and no appliance price. Confirm with Waste Pro at 407-869-8800 whether a refrigerator, freezer or air conditioning unit is collected as bulk waste, how the doors and any refrigerant have to be handled, and whether a charge applies.
When & how
Call Waste Pro at 407-869-8800 before the unit goes out, and use the county landfill at 1930 Osceola Road in Geneva as the alternative self-haul route, where white goods and appliances are accepted by weight.
Get it ready
Empty and defrost the unit and remove the doors so it cannot be entered, and keep it out of the recycling container and away from the yard trash pile. Tarp and secure any self-haul load so it counts as covered rather than paying twice the rate.

Get it ready
Remove personal data before the device leaves the house, keep electronics out of the garbage cart and out of the recycling container, and keep the device separate from paint, solvents and other chemicals, which go to the hazardous waste tunnel rather than the electronics drop-off.

Exercise equipment

Special rules apply

Exercise equipment is not on the bulky list, so confirm the machine with Waste Pro before it is set out.

City cost & eligibility
Longwood and Seminole County publish no list that names exercise equipment, and the bulk service is described by household item type rather than by size alone. Call Waste Pro at 407-869-8800 to confirm whether the machine is collected as bulk waste and whether any charge applies, or open a ticket with the city at 407-260-3470.
When & how
Call Waste Pro at 407-869-8800 before the machine goes out, and if it is accepted place it on the curb before 7 a.m. on the collection day, separate from the yard trash that goes out on Wednesdays.
Get it ready
Describe the machine and its weight when you call, remove any console or battery pack so the electronics can travel to the county drop-off instead, and keep the item clear of sidewalks, driveways and the recycling container.

Construction and demolition debris

Accepted with preparation

Construction material is outside the residential bulk service and goes to the Seminole County landfill, which accepts construction and demolition debris and charges household loads by weight.

City cost & eligibility
From $41.63 per ton for Class I waste at the covered rate at the Seminole County landfill, with uncovered loads charged twice the covered rate. Seminole County residents at the county landfill or the Central Transfer Station, where residential rates apply and construction and demolition debris is accepted at the landfill.
When & how
Haul the material to the Seminole County Landfill on 1930 Osceola Road in Geneva, open daily from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., or arrange a commercial container through one of the franchised haulers the city lists, because the residential bulk service covers household items rather than project material.
Get it ready
Keep construction material out of the garbage cart, the recycling container and the yard trash pile, and tarp and secure the load so it counts as covered rather than paying twice the rate.

Waste Pro collects for the whole city under contract

The city provides garbage collection to all residential properties inside the city limits through Waste Pro USA, with the service area divided into three sections that each have their own collection schedule and yard trash collected city-wide on Wednesdays. Everything goes on the curb before 7 a.m. Missed pickups and cart requests go to the city utility billing department on 407-260-3470, which opens a ticket with Waste Pro, and the contract provides garbage collection twice a week, recycling once a week and bulk waste once a week up to six cubic yards.

Separate the recycling and keep the bags out

Curbside recycling takes paper and cardboard including cereal boxes, brown paper bags, non-greasy pizza boxes, corrugated cardboard, newspaper, magazines and office paper, aluminum, steel and tin cans, plastic containers and glass bottles and jars. Glass home decor, ceramics, pottery, styrofoam, wax-lined cups and plates, plastic bags and wrap and greasy pizza boxes do not belong in the container, and plastic bags go back to a participating store such as Publix instead because they tangle the sorting equipment.

Holidays shift the pickup, and the assessment is still a proposal

Collections are not made on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day or New Year's Day, when the pickup moves to the next regularly scheduled collection day, and only recycling runs on New Year's Day. The city has also published a proposal to move the solid waste charge from the monthly utility bill to an annual non-ad valorem assessment, with per dwelling unit and side yard figures for FY 2026-27 published in the notice, while stating that garbage, recycling, yard waste and bulk collection services are not being reduced. The notice is not a bill and no figure from it is a current price, so keep paying the amount shown on the utility bill and ask the city about the assessment before relying on it.

Self haul to the county landfill

A Seminole County household with construction and demolition debris, yard waste, white goods and appliances or a load too large for the city bulk service.

Cost & conditions
From $41.63 per ton for Class I waste or yard waste at the covered rate, with uncovered loads charged twice the covered rate. Seminole County residents at the county landfill, where residential rates apply and household hazardous waste, electronics and up to ten tires per person are handled at the same site.
Arrange it
