Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Televisions, computers and electronic waste

Accepted with preparation

Flat screen televisions, computers, printers and stereos are on the city's bulk waste list, while Brevard County takes electronics free at its household hazardous waste centers with a yearly cap.

City cost & eligibility
Electronics named on the bulk list ride the contracted residential service, and the city publishes no electronic waste rate, so confirm whether the item goes out as bulk or to a county center with Republic Services at 321-989-6030.
When & how
Put the item out on the weekly bulk day, or take it to a Brevard County household hazardous waste collection center, which the county opens Monday through Saturday with the hours published per center.
Get it ready
Never place electronics in the recycling cart, because the city lists electronics among the items that must not go in it, and remove every battery first because batteries are a separate hazardous stream. The city notes that electronics are counted at ten large items per household per year at the county centers.

City of Palm Bay Public Works and Utilities with Republic Services and Brevard County Solid Waste Management

Put the item out on the weekly bulk day

A Palm Bay household with a couch, a mattress, an appliance, a flat screen television or a residential move-out pile.

Cost & conditions
Bulk pickup is unlimited and part of the contracted residential service the household pays for, and the city publishes no separate bulky rate, so confirm any unusual item with Republic Services at 321-989-6030.
Arrange it
Set the items at the curb on the scheduled pickup day shown in the Republic address lookup, keep the pile clear of the travel way, and keep yard waste separate and containerized.

Hazardous waste, batteries and construction material cannot go in the pile, the city refuses construction material outside the disaster debris process, and bulk and yard waste must not be placed curbside within 72 hours before a storm.

Drop hazardous waste at a Brevard County center

A Palm Bay household with paint, automotive fluids, garden chemicals, batteries, fluorescent lamps or electronics.

Cost & conditions
No charge. Free to Brevard County residents for household material at the three permanent collection centers, with proof of residency possibly required, and electronics counted at ten large items per household per year.
Arrange it
Take the material to a county household hazardous waste collection center during its published hours, or call Brevard County at 321-633-2042 for the nearest location.

Household material only, liquids capped at twenty-five gallons per household per year in containers no larger than five gallons, no mixing of chemicals, and alkaline batteries, explosives, biomedical waste, propane tanks and drums are refused.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Palm Bay is a franchise city, so Republic Services handles the curb and the city's Utilities and Public Works departments handle the account. Garbage goes out twice a week, recycling once a week, and bulk waste once a week with no volume restrictions, with the city's list naming appliances, furniture, mattresses, computers, printers, flat screen televisions and stereos. Yard waste is also unlimited but has to be containerized rather than bagged and separated from everything else, with limbs cut to four feet under six inches in diameter and to two feet above that. Hazardous waste never goes in a cart: Brevard County runs three free collection centers for county residents, taking paint, automotive fluids, garden chemicals, batteries, fluorescent lamps and electronics, and the county's Sarno Landfill handles the construction categories that its transfer station refuses. Construction debris is otherwise a roll-off job, because the city requires collection and disposal businesses to hold a non-exclusive franchise and publishes the approved provider list. County landfill, transfer station and hazardous waste center

Brevard County Sarno Landfill and Transfer Station

3379 Sarno Road, Melbourne, FL 32935

The landfill takes asphalt, boats without motors, fuel or tanks, brick, cardboard, carpet, concrete, drywall, land clearing debris, lumber, metal scraps, empty paint cans, paper, piping, plastics, rock, steel, whole tires, white goods such as refrigerators and washers, wood pallets and yard waste. The household hazardous waste center takes aerosols, automotive and boat batteries, automotive fluids, cleaners, drain cleaners, electronics, fertilizers, fluorescent lamps, fungicides and pesticides, gasoline, lubricants, mercury devices, oil filters, paints, stains, sealers and solvents.

The landfill prohibits CRTs and rear projection televisions, electronics and brown goods, fluorescent lamps, hazardous waste, batteries, sharps, treated wood, pressurized cylinders, propane tanks, containers over 20 gallons, motor vehicles and garbage. The transfer station refuses construction and demolition debris, white goods, motor vehicles, yard trash and hazardous waste, so a construction load goes to the landfill side rather than the transfer station. Household hazardous waste is household material only, capped at twenty-five gallons of liquid per household per year in containers no larger than five gallons.

The site is open Monday through Saturday 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and the household hazardous waste center is open Monday through Saturday 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Household hazardous waste and electronics drop-off is free to Brevard County residents with proof of residency possibly required, while material taken to the landfill or transfer station is weighed and charged at the scale, so confirm the load charge before arriving.

Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

TV removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Palm Bay.

How much does TV removal cost in Palm Bay?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Can I get same-day TV pickup in Palm Bay?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.
