Get it ready
Keep electronics out of the garbage cart and the curbside bulk pile, and keep rechargeable and button cell batteries out of the trash as well because the city treats them as household hazardous waste.
Chemicals, tanks and certain batteries stay out of the cans and the pile
Hazardous waste such as fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides, gasoline and oil, spray paint, stains, thinners and solvents cannot go in the garbage cart or the curbside bulk pile, and propane, acetylene and helium tanks, oil paint, automotive, boat, RV and trailer parts, tires and engines are refused in the bulk pile. Electronics and compact fluorescent bulbs are special waste, rechargeable and button cell batteries are household hazardous waste, and single-use alkaline batteries may go in the household trash.

Cost & conditions
From $10 per load minimum, with garbage, construction and demolition debris and yard waste charged by weight at the published per-ton rates. St. Lucie County residents with a valid ID, and hazardous materials and electronic waste are accepted at no charge, while most other household hazardous waste is free except cylinder tanks.
Arrange it
Take the load to 6120 Glades Cut-Off Road in Fort Pierce, drive to the Scale House and tell the operator what you are dropping off.
Out-of-county waste and business generated hazardous waste are not accepted, containers of liquid are limited to five gallons, and dry or granular material is limited by weight per household per day.

Monday through Friday 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., with hand unloaders on the scale by 4:15 p.m.; Saturday 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., with hand unloaders on the scale by 12:15 p.m.; closed Sundays and on the Fourth of July, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.
No charge. Electronic waste is accepted at no charge from St. Lucie County residents with a valid ID.

Single-use alkaline batteries may go in the household trash, lead-acid car batteries should go back to an auto parts store or the county facility, and rechargeable and button cell batteries must not go in the trash.

Do you erase data from old computers?+
Data erasure and certified data destruction are not included in Dropcurb removal. Back up the information you need, then follow the manufacturer’s sign-out and reset instructions before pickup. If a device cannot be erased or contains sensitive business information, arrange suitable data handling before giving it away.
