Wellington collects bulk trash one day a week, taking items too large for the cart such as major appliances and furniture, with up to four cubic yards per household on the bulk collection day.
City cost & eligibility
No charge. Bulk trash is part of the Village collection, with up to four cubic yards accepted per household on the bulk collection day, the equivalent of a small pickup truck bed. A tagged non-compliant pile may be removed as is for a hauler fee of $9.00 per cubic yard instead of being corrected.
When & how
Bulk trash runs one day a week and may be placed for collection 24 hours before that day, in front of the residence. The pile has to be neatly stacked, cut to less than six feet in length, and placed near but no closer than three feet from other objects such as mailboxes and the automated garbage container.
Get it ready
Keep the pile to items too large for the cart, and check the published examples before stacking it. Remove or seal the doors on all appliances with tape, break up mirrors, glass doors, glass tabletops and pane glass and bag the pieces inside the container, containerize loose material such as drywall and floor tile at less than 50 pounds per container, and leave concrete and rock out entirely.
A mattress is named directly in Wellington's published list of acceptable bulk trash, so it goes out with the weekly bulk collection.

You can choose an offered pickup day around your replacement delivery. First check whether the retailer already includes old-mattress removal, and arrange who will bring it outside if needed.
