Large renovation loads move in a city roll-off container, whose set-out, pull, tipping and rental charges are published, or in a covered load at the county landfill.
City cost & eligibility
From $50 for one time set-out fee for a roll-off container, with a pull fee of $95.00, a tipping fee of $35.00 per ton and a daily rental rate of $1.50 per day. Roll-off service is arranged with the city Solid Waste Division at (229) 302-1800 under an agreement. Restricted non-hazardous waste at the county landfill needs written approval before it is accepted, and special or restricted waste including asbestos needs twenty-four hour advance notice and a weekday appointment.

Arrange the container with the city at (229) 302-1800, or take the load to the Dougherty County landfill, open Monday to Friday 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 7:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Get it ready
Tarp and secure the load entering and leaving, because the county requires covered loads and tarped commercial loads, and call ahead for restricted material. Keep paint, solvents, oils and batteries out of the container, and dry out latex paint before putting the residue in the roll-out cart.
All loads reaching the Dougherty County landfill must be fully covered or secured, and commercial loads must be tarped entering and leaving. The gate is open Monday to Friday 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 7:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., closes fifteen minutes early so the site can shut down safely, and closes for an hour one day a month for a safety meeting. Herbicides, pesticides, gasoline, oils, batteries and tires with rims are refused, hazardous and biomedical waste is refused, restricted non-hazardous waste needs written approval, and children must stay in vehicles with no scavenging.
Liquid paint does not go into a landfill load. The county advises buying only what is needed, using or donating leftovers, and either drying latex paint out so the solid residue can go in the roll-out cart, or recycling a steel can that is empty, dry and free of paint residue at Albany Recycling Services, 1301 East Gordon Avenue. Batteries are refused at the landfill, so household and rechargeable batteries go to the Keep Albany-Dougherty Beautiful recycling drop-offs instead.
