Get it ready
Cover the load, because the county requires fully covered or secured loads, and keep the piece out of the city cart, since the city collects only what fits inside the cart. Household recyclables such as cardboard and metals can be separated out for the Keep Albany-Dougherty Beautiful drop-offs instead.
Albany collects only what is inside the city-issued cart, so boxes are broken down and everything else waits for another route. Carts go to the curb or the alley no earlier than 5 p.m. the day before collection and no later than 7 a.m. on the collection day, face the roadway within three feet of the curb and away from poles and mail boxes, and come back in by 7 p.m. that day. Leaves and yard debris are collected twice a month in a separate pile near the garbage collection point, and nothing else may be mixed into it.
