Get it ready
Arrange for the refrigerant to be removed from a refrigerator or other cooling appliance before the collection, because the city requires all Freon to be gone for the unit to be accepted, and keep each item light enough that the pair stays under the weight limit.
Bulky waste pickup is included in the sanitation account but is not automatic, so the request goes to the city through the bulky waste form at least 72 hours before the collection. The allowance is two items a week with a combined weight under 100 pounds, and the hauler charges its own reasonable rate when a load is heavier than that.
Garbage, recycling, yard waste and bulky waste are all collected weekly on the same account, and material goes to the curb no later than 7 am on the scheduled collection day. If a pickup falls on New Year's Day, Thanksgiving Day or Christmas, or on a later day in that same week, the collection moves to the following day, while all other holidays keep the normal schedule.
