A few pieces, one pickup

Your room has changed. The old furniture can go.

The desk you no longer use. The dresser that doesn’t fit the new layout. The chairs left over after a move. Choose the pieces you’re done with and give them a pickup day, without arranging a quote visit.

Different pieces. One clear total.

Add each furniture item and its quantity. See the combined price before you pay, with loading, transportation and disposal included.

Choose each piece

A table and four chairs are five items.

You don’t need to guess how much space your furniture fills in a truck. Match each piece to the catalog, then add its quantity. Your total updates as you go.

Tables and chairs

Choose the table, then add each chair separately. Coffee tables, side tables and dining tables have their own options. A large or substantially heavy table has a different choice.

Dressers and mirrors

Match the dresser’s overall size. Add a separate dresser mirror as its own item if it is leaving too. Empty drawers and keep the belongings you want before moving the dresser outside.

Desks and bookshelves

Choose by construction, not height alone. A basic desk is different from a heavy desk with a substantial body. A tall, lightweight bookcase can still be a standard bookshelf. Empty it first.

Couches, sofas and household furniture

Accepted with preparation

Household furniture heads the city's allowed refuse list, so a couch goes out with the biweekly two cubic yard allowance once the pickup has been authorized.

City cost & eligibility
No charge. Single-family and small multi-family premises in Dalton with advance authorization, inside the two cubic yard biweekly allowance, and only when the homeowner does the work rather than a contractor.
When & how
Request authorization and put the piece out for the collection week for the address.
Get it ready
Keep the piece inside the two cubic yard allowance, keep it clear of the recycling bin, and do not add carpet, ceramic tile or other floor coverings from a renovation, because floor coverings sit on the refused construction list.

Get authorization before the refuse pile goes out

Since August 17, 2020, Dalton residents must have advance authorization to put rubbish or refuse out for collection, either by calling Dalton Public Works or by filing a request through SeeClickFix online or in the mobile app. The free allowance is two cubic yards, about a long-bed pickup truck bed, every two weeks, the pickup alternates between the northern and southern halves of the city, and the work has to be the homeowner's own because a private contractor must dispose of its material itself.

Take a load to a Whitfield County convenience center

A county household with bagged garbage, yard trimmings, scrap metal, bulky items such as mattresses, sofas or bookshelves, or recyclables.

Cost & conditions
$5 for average transportation fee per bulky item at the Westside, M.L. King Boulevard and McGaughey Chapel centers, with no bulky item fee at the Old Dixie Highway location. Whitfield County residents, with additional fees for out of county visitors, a limit of ten bags of household garbage per trip, and trailer or large pickup loads of bulky waste possibly redirected to the Old Dixie Highway landfill.
Arrange it
Take the load to one of the four staffed centers, including the Old Dixie Highway landfill and convenience center at 4189 Old Dixie Hwy in Dalton, and ask the attendant about the fee for the specific items.

Construction and remodeling debris is not accepted at the centers except for a single piece at the attendant's discretion, yard trimmings and scrap metal are not available at the M.L. King Boulevard site, and container-full days can turn a load away.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Dalton's own route is the curb, on a free allowance of two cubic yards every two weeks with advance authorization, alternating between the north and south halves of the city, and covering furniture, mattresses and box springs, white goods, electronic waste, dried paint and bicycles. Anything the city refuses goes to Whitfield County: the four staffed convenience centers take bagged garbage, yard trimmings, scrap metal, bulky items and recyclables, with a transportation fee averaging five dollars per bulky item at the Westside, M.L. King and McGaughey Chapel centers and no bulky fee at the Old Dixie Highway site. The Old Dixie Highway landfill and convenience center at 4189 Old Dixie Hwy is also the only county site that accepts construction and home remodeling waste, priced per ton with a generation form for contractor loads, and the only site that takes electronics; tires are limited to four per customer per day at the other centers and ten at Old Dixie. Household chemicals wait for the county's hazardous waste day on the third Saturday of the month from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., with a 220 pound per vehicle limit and items in original labelled containers. County landfill and the only convenience center that takes construction material and electronics

Old Dixie Highway Landfill and Convenience Center

4189 Old Dixie Hwy, Dalton, GA

Household garbage in bags, yard trimmings, scrap metal, bulky items such as mattresses, sofas and bookshelves, recyclables, electronics, construction and home remodeling waste, bulk tires, and household chemicals on the monthly hazardous waste day.

Whitfield County residents only, with additional fees for out of county visitors and a ten bag limit on household garbage per trip. Construction and home remodeling waste is accepted only here, contractor and clean out loads need the county generation form, tires are limited to four per customer per day except at this site where the limit is ten, and bulky loads may be redirected here when another center's container is full.

The site follows the county's published convenience center hours, and the household hazardous waste day runs on the third Saturday of the month from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Bulky items carry no transportation fee at this location, while construction and home remodeling waste is priced at $46.25 per ton and bulk tires at $200 per ton, so confirm the material and the amount with the county at 706-277-2545 before hauling.

Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

Furniture removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Dalton.

How much does furniture removal cost in Dalton?

Choose the type and size of each piece to see its price. For example, a medium dresser is $79 as the first item or $29 as an additional item. Your total starts with the highest first-item price in your selection, then uses the additional-item price for every other item. Review the complete total and any applicable tax before payment.

Can I get same-day furniture pickup in Dalton?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup and choose from the dates shown at checkout. Arrange to have the furniture outside according to your confirmation. You receive a text when your hauler is on the way and photos after collection.

Will you remove furniture from inside my apartment?

Dropcurb starts outside. You arrange indoor carrying, including any interior stairs or elevator trip. We load and take away the furniture from an accessible outdoor location. Check your building’s rules and plan the route out before booking.

Can you take several different furniture items in one pickup?

Yes. Add each piece and its quantity to one booking. A dining table and four chairs are five items; a separate mirror is not included with a dresser. You can mix eligible items from different rooms and review their combined total before paying.

Do I need to take furniture apart before pickup?

You arrange any disassembly needed to move the furniture out of your home and into an accessible outdoor pickup spot. Dropcurb does not provide indoor disassembly or carrying. If you are unsure which catalog choice matches a dismantled or unusual piece, send a photo and ask before booking.

Will Dalton take a couch from the curb?

Yes. Household furniture is first on the city's allowed refuse list, and it rides the free biweekly allowance of two cubic yards as long as the resident has advance authorization and the homeowner is the one doing the work.Official guidance

Who collects garbage and refuse in Dalton?

The City of Dalton Public Works Department collects solid waste from single-family dwellings, individually owned condominiums and townhomes, and multi-family dwellings of triplex size or less inside the city, while apartments and larger complexes receive no rubbish pickup. Refuse collection needs advance authorization from Public Works or through SeeClickFix.Official guidance

What can go out with the Dalton refuse pile?

Household furniture, mattresses and box springs, white goods such as standard appliances, electronic waste, dried paint, bicycles and other common outdoor items that are not specifically prohibited. The pile is capped at two cubic yards every two weeks, and cardboard is not part of it because boxes have to be broken down in the recycling bin.Official guidance

King Boulevard and McGaughey Chapel centers, and there is no bulky item fee at the Old Dixie Highway location.
