The local disposal guide
East Point runs its own Solid Waste Services division, covering garbage, recycling, yard waste, bulk pickup and dead animal collection on one city account. Bulk material is collected by appointment rather than on a fixed day, and the published rate is a charge for the first item plus a smaller charge for each additional one, with two free bulk amnesty pickups a year for single-family residents. Sofas, chairs, tables, desks, mattresses, washers, dryers, hot water heaters, stoves, lawnmowers and refrigerators are all on the bulk list, subject to conditions that matter: a refrigerator has to have the Freon and the door removed, a hot water heater has to be drained, and a lawnmower has to be emptied of gasoline and oil. The city refuses dirt, sod, rock, branches, construction, remodeling and demolition debris, concrete, asphalt, wood, tires, paint, oil and hot ashes both in the cart and on the bulk list, so a renovation load is a private arrangement. Televisions and other electronics are named nowhere, and the city publishes no electronics drop-off, so that route is confirmed with the Solid Waste office before anything is set out.

Electronics appear on neither the permitted bulk list nor the list of material refused in refuse, and East Point publishes no electronics drop-off, so a television or computer has to be confirmed with the Solid Waste office rather than promised at the curb.
Construction, remodeling and demolition debris is refused both in the refuse container and on the bulk list, along with concrete, asphalt, wood, dirt, sod, rock and tires, so a project load has no city route at all.
Exercise equipment is not named on the bulk list, although lawnmowers are accepted once the gasoline and oil are removed, so a treadmill or weight machine has to be confirmed with the Solid Waste office.

The handoff matters
Bulk items are collected only when the household books an appointment with Solid Waste Services, and the two free bulk amnesty pickups a year go first for single-family residents. After those are used, the published rate applies, which is a charge for the first item and a smaller charge for each additional one.
