The city states that food or liquids must be evacuated and captured by a certified technician where the law requires it, that refrigerator doors must be removed, that all refrigerants must be removed from appliances with a verification tag attached, and that the contractor must tell the city and the resident why it refused an item that was not prepared.
Play equipment is on the bulky program's accepted list while basketball hoops, trampolines and swing sets are refused, and an exercise machine such as a treadmill is not named either way.

South Fulton households can self haul to the Merk Miles Citizens Convenience Center at 3225 Merk Road, next to the Wolf Creek Amphitheater. The center is open Tuesday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., closed Sunday and Monday, with the last customer accepted 15 minutes before closing. A resident pays by weight for garbage, construction debris and yard waste, with a higher charge for a heavier load and a separate tier for non resident and commercial loads, while appliances and cooling units with the freon lines cut and removed, computers, glass, paper, cardboard, metals, plastic bottles, batteries, used motor oil and cooking oil are listed at no charge.
