Safe preparation sequence
- 1.Identify the couch type before removing anything. Sleeper sofas, recliners and powered furniture can contain loaded or electrical mechanisms.
- 2.Remove loose cushions and follow the manufacturer’s instructions for detachable legs or modules. Keep screws, bolts and other hardware together in a labeled bag.
- 3.Measure each piece, the doorway and the route to the staging location. Plan for suitable helpers and moving equipment if the pieces are heavy or awkward.
- 4.Stop if the frame is glued, the mechanism is loaded, or further disassembly would require cutting the frame or opening internal springs. Arrange qualified help for that labor if needed.
For a sectional, use the sectional-removal checklist to plan the separate modules and route outside.

Where Dropcurb fits
For an accepted standard sofa already outside and accessible, Dropcurb handles loading, transportation and disposal. Standard sofa eligibility is one straight sofa or loveseat with fixed seats and no pull-out bed or reclining mechanism. If the couch still needs indoor carrying or mechanism disassembly, arrange that work separately before pickup.
