Mattresses are named on the town's list of items that will be collected curbside as bulky waste, so a mattress goes out with the weekly pile rather than in the garbage cart. There is no published per-piece charge because it is covered by the monthly garbage charge.

Set the mattress loose at the curb in the organized bulky pile, on the same timing as the rest of the load, and keep the total under 500 pounds. Keep it out of the garbage cart and out of any box or non-Town container.
Bulky waste goes loose at the curb as one organized pile, out after 6 p.m. the day before or before 6 a.m. on the collection day, and never over 500 pounds. Lay material lengthwise on sloped right of ways, keep it out of boxes and non-Town carts, and call the town when glass or mirrors are involved because a hand pickup may be scheduled.

No charge. Included in the monthly garbage charge on the Town utility bill, along with garbage, recycling, brush, landscape waste and fall leaves.
Arrange it
Put the items loose at the curb in one organized pile on your regular garbage collection day, using the same curbside timing as the carts, and call 309-454-9571 with questions between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m.
Nothing over 500 pounds or from contractor work is accepted, electronics, landscape waste and brush travel on their own routes, and bulky waste is not collected on holidays when town offices are closed.
Self-hauling in Normal runs through the town's own Public Works yard. The self-service electronics recycling site at 1301 Warriner Street, past the main Public Works building and marked with yellow signs, takes televisions, computers, monitors, printers, scanners, receivers, video game consoles, phones and cables free from McLean County residents, and it refuses appliances, microwaves, dehumidifiers, alkaline batteries and light bulbs. Other household material has its own route: alkaline batteries go in the garbage cart or to a participating retailer, motor oil, antifreeze and used cooking oil go to Team Automotive on South Adelaide Street, compact fluorescent bulbs and tubes go to Echo Electric in Bloomington, and paint and household hazardous waste go through the Ecology Action Center and the PaintCare programme. The price depends on the mattress size you choose. A queen mattress is $99 as the first item and $30 as an additional item. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Add any box spring or frame separately, then review your total and any applicable tax before payment.
Can I book same-day mattress pickup in Normal?+
Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates shown at checkout. Have the mattress outside and accessible according to your confirmation. Your booking is for a day rather than an exact arrival time, and we text you when your hauler is on the way.
Is my box spring or bed frame included in mattress removal?+
The mattress price covers the mattress only. Add your box spring, bed frame or adjustable base separately if those are going too. Choose the size and type that match each item. The combined price appears before booking.
Will you carry my mattress downstairs or out of my apartment?+
Dropcurb starts outside. You arrange to move the mattress out of your apartment and down interior stairs before pickup. We load it and take it away from an accessible outdoor spot. Check your building’s access rules before arranging the move outside.
Can you pick up my old mattress when my new one arrives?+
You can choose an offered pickup day around your replacement delivery. First check whether the retailer already includes old-mattress removal, and arrange who will bring it outside if needed.
