Count the bags and boxes, not everything inside.

A few simple choices turn a mixed pile into a clear booking. No need to estimate how much of a truck it might fill.

Filled bags and boxes

Count each trash bag or filled household box. Books and media go by the box. Clothes, bedding and shoes go by the filled bag. Toys packed together have a Box of toys choice. Ask us about unusually heavy or oversized bags and boxes first.

Empty cardboard and containers

Empty cardboard is a different choice: choose single empty boxes or tied bundles of 10 flattened boxes. Compacted bales have their own weight-based choices and require loading-dock access. A Storage bin choice covers the empty bin itself; ask us to confirm the contents if they are going too.

Furniture and other larger items

Add the actual larger item alongside your bags and boxes, such as a sofa, chair or mattress. It has its own price and preparation. Keep construction materials and items needing special handling out of ordinary household bags.

Heavy pickup and household clutter

Accepted with preparation

Heavy pickup is Anderson's route for anything too large for the cart. It runs on the day after the regular trash day, it is arranged with Best Way Disposal, and the city FAQ sets the limit at as many as five items a week. The city also states that trash outside the carts is not collected unless it is heavy pickup material, so the pile and the cart serve two different purposes on two different mornings.

City cost & eligibility
The city publishes no rate for heavy pickup and no rate for the weekly trash service on the pages read, so confirm the load with Best Way at 765-649-7272 when the pickup is scheduled. Excess trash beyond the cart is also arranged directly with Best Way.
When & how
Call Best Way to schedule, then put the load out for the day after the scheduled trash day. The everyday trash goes out on the usual day in its cart, and the weekly pickup is capped at as many as five items.
Get it ready
Keep the cart within four feet of the curb with the wheels away from the street and the lid arrows pointing toward the street, with three feet between the cart and the load and three feet from obstacles such as cars, mailboxes and trees. Set the material out the night before, because drivers start early to clear busy streets before traffic, and keep refrigerators, freezers, electronics and tires out of the pile because all four are excluded.

The handoff matters

Right item.
Right place.

Place the cart four feet from the curb, three feet from everything else

The city asks for the cart within four feet of the curb with the wheels away from the street and the arrows on the lid pointing toward the street. The cart also needs three feet of separation from the heavy pickup pile and three feet of clearance from obstacles such as cars, mailboxes and trees, and it is the resident's job to keep it unblocked. Residents are encouraged to set material out the night before, because drivers start early to clear busy streets before the work day traffic begins.

The cart goes out one morning and heavy pickup the next

Anderson runs heavy pickup on the day after the regular trash day, so a household clearing a couch or an appliance sets material out on two consecutive mornings. The household trash goes in its cart on the usual day, and the heavy items go out beside it the following morning. The city caps heavy pickup at as many as five items a week and states that trash outside the carts is not collected unless it is heavy pickup material.

Four things stay out of the heavy pickup pile

The city names the exclusions directly. Refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners and any other item that ever contained refrigerant are not part of heavy pickup, and the city FAQ adds electronics and tires to the exclusions from the five item weekly pickup. Remodeling debris and excess move-in or move-out trash are outside the programme entirely, with residents arranging removal with Best Way Disposal themselves.

Schedule heavy pickup with Best Way Disposal

A household with a couch, a table, a mattress, a washer or dryer, a stove or an exercise machine that will not fit in the cart.

Cost & conditions
The city publishes no heavy pickup rate and no weekly service rate on the pages read, so confirm the items and any charge with Best Way Disposal at 765-649-7272. The scheduled pickup itself runs on the day after the regular trash day.
Arrange it
Call Best Way Disposal at 765-649-7272 to book the pickup, put the everyday trash in its cart on the usual day, and put the heavy items out the following morning, which is the day after the trash day. The city caps the pickup at as many as five items a week.

Refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners and anything that ever contained refrigerant are excluded, and the city FAQ also excludes electronics and tires from the weekly five item pickup. Remodeling debris, move-in and move-out piles and excess trash outside the carts are outside the programme and need a separate arrangement with Best Way.

Taking it somewhere yourself?

Self haul in Anderson has two published destinations. The Madison County Recycling Center at Scatterfield Road and Mounds Road on the southeast corner takes clean and empty metal cans, newspaper, magazines, books, office paper, junk mail, paper food containers, paper ads, clear, brown and green glass, plastics numbered 1 through 7 without plastic bags, and flattened corrugated cardboard. It is also the local route for refrigerant appliances, limited to unusable air conditioners, freezers, refrigerators and dehumidifiers, and for tires in three size classes, with tires on rims charged double and large loads asked to call ahead. It opens on Tuesdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on the second and fourth Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 12 noon, and it reserves the right to refuse any item. The second destination is the city's own Anderson Yard and Garden Recycling Center at 2000 West Eighth Street, which the Water Pollution Control Utility operates to turn brush, leaves and grass into compost and mulch. It is open on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. and from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., takes leaves and grass at no charge with a nominal fee for woody debris, does not require tree limbs to be bundled, and refuses dirt, plastic bags, treated timbers, stumps, rocks, painted wood and trash. Electronics are the gap: the city routes them to the annual City Wide Cleanup drop-off rather than to either site, and the weekly heavy pickup excludes them. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

Bulk junk removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Anderson.

How much does bulk junk removal cost in Anderson?

A trash bag is $59 as the first item and $10 additional. A filled household box is $59 as the first item. Add your actual items and quantities to see the combined price before booking. Loading, transportation and disposal are included; any applicable sales tax is shown before payment.

Can you pick up bags of junk today?

Book by 2pm in the pickup address’s local time for same-day pickup. Available dates appear at checkout. Have the booked bags and boxes outside and accessible according to your confirmation. You receive pickup updates and completion photos; the booking is for a day rather than an exact arrival time.

Do I count every object inside a bag or box?

No. Count the filled bags or boxes using the matching choice. Books and media go in Filled household box; clothes, bedding and shoes go in Bag of clothes & bedding; packed toys have a Box of toys choice. Empty cardboard is separate, with individual empty boxes and bundles of 10 flattened boxes. Heavy, oversized or unusual contents need a photo review before booking.

Can you pick up a small loose pile of household junk?

Yes. Estimate how many trash bags the small household pile would fill, and bag or box as much as possible. Select furniture and other larger items separately. There is no extra charge just because the pile is loose. Send a photo first if the count or contents are unclear. A household Dumpster Bag choice does not accept construction debris.

Can I book bags, boxes and furniture together?

Yes. Select the bags and boxes, then add each larger item using its own catalog choice. The booking shows one combined price for the selected items. Move everything to an accessible outdoor spot before pickup; indoor carrying and sorting are not included. Keep anything you want to retain apart from the booked items and identify what goes in your photos and notes.

How does heavy pickup work in Anderson?

Heavy pickup covers items too large to fit in a residential cart, runs on the day after the scheduled trash day, and has to be arranged with Best Way Disposal at 765-649-7272. The city caps it at as many as five items a week, and refrigerators, freezers, electronics and tires are excluded. Furniture and appliances are the common acceptable items, and remodeling debris and move-in or move-out piles are not covered at all.Official guidance

Who collects trash in Anderson?

Best Way Disposal collects under the city programme. The city states that Anderson does not pick up trash or large items itself, and that residents call Best Way at 765-649-7272 to find the collection day, order a container or arrange a heavy pickup. Best Way is at 1128 W. 66th St. in Anderson and opens on weekdays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m.Official guidance

How many large items will Best Way take?

As many as five items a week, when the pickup is arranged for the day after the scheduled trash day. The city FAQ sets that limit and names the exclusions: refrigerators, freezers, electronics and tires do not go in the weekly pickup, and the waste services page adds air conditioners and anything that ever contained refrigerant to the appliance exclusion.Official guidance
