When & how
There is no city pickup day for remodeling debris and no drop-off for it at the county recycling center, whose accepted list is limited to recyclables, refrigerant appliances and tires. Arrange removal before the work starts so the material does not accumulate at the curb.
Get it ready
Keep the material out of the trash cart and the recycling cart, and keep it out of the heavy pickup pile, because the city names remodeling debris as not covered. Keep treated timbers, stumps, rocks and painted wood out of the yard waste stream as well, because the city's compost site refuses loads containing them.
The city names the exclusions directly. Refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners and any other item that ever contained refrigerant are not part of heavy pickup, and the city FAQ adds electronics and tires to the exclusions from the five item weekly pickup.
