Yard waste goes in 30 gallon biodegradable paper bags on the same day, from the first week of April through the last week of November, and the bags must hold only leaves, grass, plants or twigs.
Human feces, brake fluid, animal carcasses, gasoline, cement, oil, wood, bleach, sand, ammonia, dirt, pool chemicals, sod, branches, oil based paint, roofing shingles, yard waste and miscellaneous junk are all banned from the green carts. The city says some of those items can be picked up by the Street Department through a special pick-up arranged at 853-6431 and that others can only be dropped at a Lake County hazardous waste drop-off between April and October.
