No mattress rate is published. The city gives one free bulky item or appliance pickup a month to homeowners inside the city limits and charges additional items by the cubic yard, so book the mattress as the monthly bulky item on 311 and confirm it is accepted before putting it out.
When & how
Call 311 on a weekday between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. or submit the online request, and the pickup is scheduled on the next available trash day. The mattress goes out only once the date is assigned.
Get it ready
Keep the mattress dry, out of the trash and yard waste bins, and clear of the collection path. Place it within two feet of the curb by 6 a.m. on the assigned date and no earlier than 24 hours before it, keep three feet of clearance from trees, fences and utility poles, and confirm there is no writing or bedding left attached that could read as household trash.
One free bulky or appliance pickup and one free yard waste extra pickup a month
Homeowners inside the city limits get one appliance or bulky item pickup and one yard waste extra pickup every month at no charge, and both are booked for the next available trash day. Only the primary account holder can schedule, and the city asks for the last four digits of a social security number. Further pickups in the same month are charged by the cubic yard, and any total over a stated threshold needs the resident's approval before removal.
