Match the screen

Flat screen or tube? Start with the shape.

The TV’s type and size determine which item to choose. A new model and an old model can use the same option if their shape and screen size match.

Flat-screen TVs

Measure the screen diagonally, corner to corner, without the frame. Choose under 42 inches or 42 inches and larger. A TV measuring exactly 42 inches belongs to the larger option.

Tube TVs

An older tube or CRT television has curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Choose Tube TV even if its screen is small. A rear-projection TV is different; send a photo before booking so we can check the fit.

TV stands and other electronics

The TV price covers the television. Add a media console, computer monitor or other item separately if it is going too. Choose only what you want removed and review the combined price.

Televisions, monitors and electronics

Accepted with preparation

Electronics have the clearest routes in the city. Dumpster Days recycles most electronics at no charge and charges only for the heavy display types, and MRC Recycling takes televisions, monitors, computers, phones and cable at its weekday drop-off with a published per-item price list.

City cost & eligibility
Most electronics carry no charge at either route, but televisions and monitors do, so confirm the exact model and current price. Dumpster Days charges $40 for a CRT television or computer screen and $20 for an LCD or flat screen television, cash only with exact change, and MRC Recycling charges $5 per CRT monitor and $20 per LED, LCD or plasma television, with CRT televisions priced by size.
When & how
Use a Dumpster Days weekend in spring or fall, arriving between 8:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. at Indian Springs on 47th and Orville, or use MRC Recycling at 2000 E. 19th St in Kansas City, Missouri, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with no appointment.
Get it ready
Wipe personal data from computers, phones and drives before handover, and keep electronics out of the recycling cart and the yard waste stream. Take cash in exact change to a Dumpster Days event, because the display charges are collected there rather than billed.

Set carts out by 7 a.m. and keep them light

Kansas City, Kansas collects trash and recycling on the same day each week, and carts can go to the curb no earlier than 4 p.m. the day before and no later than 7 a.m. on the collection day. Each container needs a tight-fitting lid, usable handles for lifting and a weight at or under 50 pounds, and metal barrels are not acceptable. The city asks households to keep the carts clear of vehicles, fences and mailboxes and puts trash and recycling on separate sides of the driveway or walkway so the crew can tell them apart at a glance.

The weekly truck is a cart service, not a bulk pickup

Loose trash is not collected, and the city publishes no standing appointment for a pile at the curb. The rule that does exist for a large item is for a mattress, which goes out wrapped in plastic, and rugs, which go out rolled and tied at no more than 4 feet long and 50 pounds. Loose lumber is treated as construction material and is refused, so the pile that a household clears out of a garage has to go to an event or a hauler rather than to the curb.

Self haul in Kansas City, Kansas goes to four places, and the right one depends on the material. For a mattress or a load of furniture, the free WyCo Dumpster Days events at Indian Springs on 47th and Orville take bulky household items at no charge from Wyandotte County residents who show proof of residency, but only on the spring and fall weekends. Before you book

A few things
worth knowing.

TV removal, from choosing your item to pickup day in Kansas City.

How much does TV removal cost in Kansas City?

A flat-screen TV under 42 inches is $79 as the first item and $19 as an additional item. Larger flat screens and tube TVs have their own prices. Loading, transportation and disposal are included. Choose the type that matches your TV and review your total, including any applicable tax, before payment.

Can I get same-day TV pickup in Kansas City?

Book by 2pm at your pickup address for same-day pickup. Choose from the dates offered at checkout and have the TV outside according to your confirmation. We text you when your hauler is on the way and provide photos when the pickup is done.

Will Dropcurb remove my TV from the wall or carry it downstairs?

You arrange unmounting, disconnection and indoor carrying before pickup. Dropcurb starts at an accessible outdoor location, where we load your TV and take it away. If you need help removing a mounted TV or moving a heavy tube TV outside, arrange that separately before your pickup day.

Do you pick up old tube or CRT televisions?

Yes. Choose Tube TV for an older television with curved glass and a deep, heavy body. Its price is $249 as the first item and $249 as an additional item. A rear-projection television is a different item; send a photo before booking rather than choosing the tube-TV option.

Does my old TV have to work?

Your TV does not need to turn on for removal. Choose its type and size and arrange to have it outside before pickup. A non-working TV and a TV with exposed broken glass are different situations; send a photo of unusual damage so we can confirm the plan before you book.

How do I recycle a television in Kansas City, Kansas?

Two local routes take a television. The WyCo Dumpster Days events recycle most electronics at no charge and charge only for the display types, taken in cash with exact change at the event. MRC Recycling at 2000 E. 19th St in Kansas City, Missouri takes televisions and monitors every weekday with a published per-item charge, and recycles most other electronics at no charge.Official guidance

Who collects trash in Kansas City, Kansas?

Waste Management collects it under a contract with the Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kansas, managed by the Public Works solid waste team. Trash and recycling run on the same weekly day, the set-out window opens at 4 p.m. the day before until 7 a.m. on collection day, and the 2026 monthly charge for the pair is billed to the household. A building of five or more units is different, because collection there is handled by the property owner or manager rather than by the city contract.Official guidance
