We currently accept the doors, toilets and bathroom vanities listed here, already detached and ready outside. Choose each item separately. Mixed drywall, tile, concrete, lumber and demolition rubble are not accepted, including in bags.
Doors
Count each detached door panel separately. Have it removed from its hinges before pickup. A whole installed doorway or garage door is not the same item.
Toilets
Choose Toilet for an ordinary household toilet that has already been disconnected, drained and moved outside. Text a photo before booking if yours is broken or has loose sharp pieces.
Bathroom vanities
Choose the small, standard or large bathroom vanity that matches your sink cabinet. A makeup table has a separate choice. Plumbing disconnection and removal from the wall happen before pickup.

Construction material is prohibited in the hauler bulky item pickup. Remodeling debris belongs at a permitted construction and demolition landfill, such as the Johnson County Landfill or the Stanley C/D Landfill in Overland Park, or in a rented roll-off container.
City cost & eligibility
The city publishes no rate for construction loads, and the landfill publishes no residential gate rate, so price the load with the site or the container company before you haul. Load classification decides the charge.
When & how
Call the receiving site before you load, because permitted C&D sites keep their own hours and weigh the load at the gate.
Get it ready
Keep household trash, appliances, tires and paint out of a debris load, and separate clean material such as concrete or soil if the site handles it differently. Asbestos and other special streams need to be arranged with the operator in advance.
Use a permitted, accessible outdoor spot. Arrange the move out of your home, keep shared access clear and follow your confirmation’s readiness instructions. Check with your building about access or staging limits before booking.

Cost & conditions
The city lists the container company without a published rate, and the price depends on the container size, the rental period and the weight of the debris. Ask for the delivery, pickup and any overweight charge in writing before the container is dropped.
Arrange it
Call the container company the city lists, Ted's Trash, at 816-252-1594, or another licensed provider, and agree on the drop-off spot, the load limits and the pickup date. Keep the container off the street and out of the storm drain path.
Container rates are not published by the city, so treat the price as a quote rather than a fixed fee, and confirm what the hauler refuses to take, such as household chemicals and appliances that still hold refrigerant.
Shawnee's own drop-off route is the Johnson County Landfill at 17955 Holliday Drive, inside the city limits at I-435. The voucher mailed in the February newsletter is good for one carload, truckload or trailer load no larger than 5 by 10 feet per household per year when it is shown with proof of residency, and the city says an appliance containing refrigerant adds a fee. Household chemicals go to the county's appointment-only facility in Overland Park at no charge, and yard waste stays out of the trash and goes to the compost operation on the landfill property in compostable bags. Residential customers only, with the newsletter voucher and proof of residency, one vehicle load no larger than 5 by 10 feet per household per year. The facility does not accept hazardous waste, and asbestos or other special streams have to be arranged with the operator before the load arrives.
Monday through Friday 7am to 5pm and Saturday 7am to 1pm, closed Sunday. Holiday closures listed by the operator are Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.
A qualifying household load is free with the voucher, but debris load classification decides the charge on anything beyond it, so confirm the rate and the weight procedure before you haul.

This site takes household chemicals, not construction debris. Johnson County residents only, by appointment, staying in the vehicle while staff unload; staff cannot pour off containers during the appointment.
Monday, Wednesday and Thursday 8am to 3:30pm, closed from noon to 1pm, and the second Saturday of each month from March to October, 8 to 11:30am.

Do not book loose building materials as household trash bags or as an extra item. Arrange suitable disposal for those materials with your contractor or a debris specialist.
Can a door, toilet and vanity go in the same pickup?+
Yes. Add each listed fixture separately and choose the correct vanity size. Each detached door panel counts as one item. The combined price appears before you book. Keep the fixtures together outside, separate from anything staying, and add a location photo on your order page.
Can construction debris go in a bulky pickup?+
No. Construction materials, glass panels, paint, tires and automotive batteries are prohibited in the yearly pickup, so take approved debris to a permitted construction and demolition landfill or rent a container for the project.Official guidance
