Get it ready
Empty the unit and place it with the bulky items rather than in the cart, keeping three feet of clearance from carts, mailboxes, parked cars and yard piles. Ask the hauler on 337-205-7710 how a refrigerator, freezer or air conditioner that still holds refrigerant should be prepared before it is put out with the other bulky items, because the City publishes no degassing or tagging step for the curbside collection. Do not take it to the household chemical event, because appliances are refused there.
Bulky items go to the curb before the service date at least three feet from carts, mailboxes, yard waste piles and parked cars, with no overhead trees or utility lines above them and nothing blocking the way in. An item the crew cannot reach may be left behind.
The Environmental Quality Convenience Center at 400 Dugas Road is under construction, and the City states that the accepted materials and procedures may change before it opens. Once open it would take garbage, bulky waste, construction debris, scrap metal, recycling material, electronics, tires and other residential waste from City of Lafayette and unincorporated parish residents at no charge, with published limits and a fee for residents from outside those areas.
