City cost & eligibility
No charge. Waltham residents in buildings with six or fewer units, who book the pickup through the Waltham Recycling Department and may recycle up to six total units in a calendar year, where one mattress or one box spring counts as one unit. A resident of a building with more than six units arranges collection through building management, the condo complex or a private company.

Keep the mattress or box spring dry and out of the weather, and leave it curbside only on the scheduled day rather than on the sidewalk in advance. Mattresses, textiles, construction and demolition material, televisions and computer monitors, appliances and household chemicals are all refused in the barrels and the recycling cart. Each of those items has its own route, and an item over 100 pounds needs a call before it goes out at all.
