None of it belongs in the yellow bag or the recycling bin, and the curbside option costs far more for a television or monitor than carrying it to Millbury Street.

$5 per electronic item dropped off at the Residential Drop-Off Center, where computers, printers, monitors and televisions are all on the flat per item bulk schedule. Worcester residents with proof of residency and a bulk waste appointment; a television or monitor collected curbside by the contractor is billed at its CRT rate.
When & how

Get it ready
Wipe personal data before the device leaves the house, keep cords and remotes with the item they belong to, and keep electronics and hazardous material out of the recycling bin, which does not accept them.
Only trash in an official City of Worcester yellow bag is collected, and the bags are sold at local retailers and at the 311 customer service center. Small bags carry a 15 pound weight limit and large bags a 30 pound limit. Trash and recycling go out together between 6 and 7:30 in the morning, and if a collection day falls on a holiday that day and the rest of the week slide one day later. Anything that does not fit a bag, or that weighs more than the bag allows, is a bulk item.
The city is direct about this: large items left on the curb are a violation of municipal ordinance, and illegal dumping carries a fine. Bulk items such as furniture, appliances and electronics have to go to the Residential Drop-Off Center by appointment, or onto the city contractor's curbside bulk route if the household books and pays for it. On the contractor route, bulk items must be on the curb by 7 a.m. on the scheduled day, and the fee is not refundable without a 24 hour cancellation notice.
The drop-off center at 1065 Millbury Street is for Worcester residents, so bring proof of residency along with a driver's licence or state identification, and if you use a property tax or water invoice it has to be for the current year. Payment is by check or exact cash because no change is available on site, commercial vehicles are not permitted, and waste from a commercial source is refused. Bulk drop-off runs April through November or December as the weather permits, with appointments in half hour windows booked up to 48 hours ahead, and the center closes on the city holidays it lists.
Electronics, chemicals and tires stay out of the bin
Zero sort recycling takes cans, boxboard, corrugated cardboard, glass bottles and jars, paper and plastic bottles, jugs, tubs and lids, and the city lists electronics, hazardous material, batteries, scrap metal, pans, aerosol cans, ceramics, medical waste, clothing and yard waste including wood and tires as materials that do not belong there. A bin with unacceptable material is not collected. Electronics go to a bulk appointment, oil based paint and chemicals wait for a hazardous waste day, latex paint dries and goes in the yellow bag, and motor oil goes back to a retailer.
