Large items cannot sit at the curb waiting for the regular truck, because the city treats that as an ordinance violation, so the furniture goes to the drop-off center by appointment or onto the contractor's curved pickup route.

Get it ready
Roll and tie a rug, keep the piece whole enough to be handled, bring proof of residency, and pay by check or exact cash because no change is available on site. Commercial vehicles are not allowed in.
Only trash in an official City of Worcester yellow bag is collected, and the bags are sold at local retailers and at the 311 customer service center. Small bags carry a 15 pound weight limit and large bags a 30 pound limit. Trash and recycling go out together between 6 and 7:30 in the morning, and if a collection day falls on a holiday that day and the rest of the week slide one day later. Anything that does not fit a bag, or that weighs more than the bag allows, is a bulk item.
The city is direct about this: large items left on the curb are a violation of municipal ordinance, and illegal dumping carries a fine.
