Treadmill, walking pad or commercial model?
Household treadmill includes folding home models with a tall console. Choose Walking pad for a compact under-desk model, or Commercial treadmill for a large gym machine. All equipment opens those choices.
An exercise bike, elliptical or rower
Spin, upright, recumbent and air bikes all use Exercise bike, including Peloton and other brands. One elliptical includes its connected base, handles and pedals. Rowing machines and Pilates reformers have their own choices.
Weights, racks and benches
Add together the pounds of loose dumbbells, kettlebells, plates and barbells. Free weights are priced in 10 lb units, rounding the combined weight up. For example, 25 lb uses three units. Add a stand, rack or bench separately if it is going too.

Exercise equipment is not on the city's bulk schedule, which names couches, appliances, televisions, tires, lawn mowers and hundreds of other items but no treadmill, elliptical or weight machine. Because the drop-off center works from that schedule, a machine has to be confirmed with the city before it is loaded.
City cost & eligibility
No exercise machine appears on the published bulk drop-off schedule, so no flat fee is stated for one. Call Worcester 311, describe the machine and its size, and confirm whether the drop-off center will take it and at what fee before booking an appointment.
When & how
Ask 311 first, then book the Wednesday or Saturday bulk appointment if the machine is accepted, and keep it out of the yellow bags and the recycling bin meanwhile.
Get it ready
Break the machine down as far as the manufacturer allows, keep the frame, deck and console parts together, tape the loose cables, and be ready to describe the largest piece on the phone.
Only trash in an official City of Worcester yellow bag is collected, and the bags are sold at local retailers and at the 311 customer service center. Small bags carry a 15 pound weight limit and large bags a 30 pound limit. Trash and recycling go out together between 6 and 7:30 in the morning, and if a collection day falls on a holiday that day and the rest of the week slide one day later. Anything that does not fit a bag, or that weighs more than the bag allows, is a bulk item.

Which option covers a Peloton, spin bike or recumbent bike?+
Choose Exercise bike for one stationary bike, including spin, upright, recumbent and air bikes. Peloton and other brands use the same stationary-bike choice. A treadmill, walking pad and outdoor bicycle are different items, so select their matching options.
How do I book free weights, a weight rack or a bench?+
